Disabled? NMEDA is There For You

Caring for a disabled person can be very stressful especially if you are not aware of the help that is there for you.  My husband became disabled after a terrible car accident several years ago and I wish I knew at the time that help was available.  Not knowing who to turn to for information and guidance is frustrating at the very least.

NMEDA is a non-profit trade association. All members work together to improve transportation options of people with disabilities. They can help you with information on how to modify a vehicle and what modifications would be the best for your situation; how to choose a wheelchair and what is your best option and more.  NMEDA has local members that are dealers that can guide you through the process and make recommendations.  There are also Quality Assurance Dealers as well that are accredited through the Adaptive Mobility Equipment industry.  When you do a local search on their website, you can be assured that the dealers listed are equipped to handle everything you need.

NMEDA members are required to adhere to the safety standards of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and to follow the NMEDA Guidelines.  This is so important to disabled people.  We are not familiar with guidelines on manufacturing, so how would we know we are buying a quality product.  Using a service offered by NMEDA members can bring peace of mind.

NMEDA is striving to unify and improve the mobility equipment industry and service to people with disabilities. Transportation is the key to freedom and freedom is what everyone wants whether you are disabled or not.
