Soft Glowing Light with a Himalayan Salt Lamp

Salt Shop LampSeveral months ago, I introduced you to a really neat company. It is called the Himalayan Salt Shop and they sell among other things, Salt Lamps. Now this classy chic had not clue what a Salt Lamp was until I went to their site and saw this beautiful glowing lamp. Oh My! I knew I had to tell you all about it so you can experience it was well.

These natural Salt Lamps are said to be able to clean the air and reduce allergens in the area where it is used. Whether that has happened or not in my home, I can’t say but I do know that I am game for any air purifying as I live in a farming area and we have tons of dust and junk flying always.

According the the site “Air is electrically charged, which means it contains in definite proportions, positively charges molecules (positive ions) and negatively charged molecules (negative ions).

Negative Ions clean the air of:
Dust, Pollen (grass, weed and tree pollen), Animal Dander, Smoke, Odor, Mold Spores

Negative Ions help relieve symptoms of:
Hay Fever, Asthma, Seasonal Affective Disorders, Depression, Chronic Fatigue

Ionizing Air:
Apart from their aesthetic beauty salt lamps are also reputed for a variety of beneficial effects like ionizing air in a room & humidity reduction.

Affects on Our Health:
Salt Lamps have been used as natural treatments for: Rheumatism, Allergies, Respiratory diseases, and Migraines.”

The Review

The Salt Lamp that I received from the Himalayan Salt Shop was a 4-5 lb of rock salt. It has an opaque whitish color to it and a base attached. A hole is drilled into the salt rock and you insert the light and cord. When you plug it in and turn the switch, this beautiful piece of the earth starts just glowing! The light that comes forth is just amazing.

The lamp is one of the smaller sized, natural shaped ones and my son has already swiped it from me stating that it was his now, “thanks a lot, mom”. Ya, Not! I’m telling you, if I was a teen I would have done the same. It is cool!

Also available on the site are rocks that are not electrified. They are drilled out for candles. Can you imagine a bunch of these are a wedding? OMG. That would be totally beautiful. Also the hollowed out ones that are bowls, called Bowl of Fire. So Awesome! The also carry Bath Salts and other supplies.

I would personally like to thank The great people at Himalayan Salt Shop for allowing me to do a product review and for hosting a giveaway here on the Two Classy Chics Blog. Love it!
