Today I would like to introduce you to a toy company called Big Time Toys. This fabulous company has been in business since 1995 and is based out of Nashville Tennessee. The company is a member of TIA which is the Toy Industry of America.
Big Time Toys markets a lot of toys…some of the ones you may be familiar with are Dippin’ Dots Frozen Dots Maker, Moon Shoes, Socker Boppers, Splash Out, SuperSwimmer, YoYo Ball, Tattoodles Prince Surprise Doll, Yada Yada Yada and the Amazing Live Sea Monkeys.
My Review: Big Time Toys was kind enough to send me their Dippin’ Dots Frozen Dot Maker for my product review. With this maker…you can magically make frozen dots at home! This item is for children age 3 years and up. The boxed set includes: 1 Dippin’ Dots Frozen Dot Maker, 3 Dispensers, 1 Funnel Bowl, 6 Magic Dot Freezer Trays, 4 Bowls, 4 Spoons, 2 Pop Pens, 2 Double-Sided Pop Pattern Templates and a handy instruction sheet. To make the Dippin’ Dots, you will need some frozen dot mix or your favorite drink mix which is sold separately. Some assembly is required and the unit does contain small parts…so definitely not for children under age three but we did find the assembly to be very easy. It also comes with a coupon for a FREE Dippin’ Dots Ice Cream at your local Dippin’ Dots Store! yeah!
My Overall Impression: First of all, you always want to supervise children while they are making the Dippin’ Dots. I know the package says age 3 and over…but even those children will need supervised by an adult. We assembled our dot maker in less than 5 minutes and hand washed all of our parts (as recommended by the manufacturer). I didn’t have any of the Dippin’ Dots flavors here so we opted to use a little of our sno-cone making flavors which worked out perfectly. It only took us a few minutes to make our dots and another 90 minutes of them being in the freezer before they were ready for us to eat. I must admit…they were delicious! We made root beer and blueberry flavored dots! Clean up is easy as you just hand wash your parts and you can store everything back in the original box. I think this is a lot of fun (even for us big kids LOL). I think this item would make a fabulous Birthday and/or Holiday gift for both boys and girls. I give it a big 2 thumbs up!
The only ‘con’ I have about this product is that they didn’t taste like the original Dippin’ Dots…they taste more like frozen juice popsicles. It would of been nice for them to include 1 flavoring inside the box too. (just my taste buds opinion).
