Maggie’s Soap Nuts – Natural Laundry Products

Today I would like to introduce you to a company called Maggie’s Pure Land who manufacturers Maggie’s Soap Nuts which are used to wash your laundry.

About Maggie’s Soap Nuts: These laundry soap nuts are 100% natural, super concentrated, hypoallergenic, vegan & pure, fragrance-free, low sudzing and biodegradable. These are all of the qualities you need in a green 100% natural laundry soap. You can use these soap nuts in HE and regular washing machines. They contain a natural fabric softener and are safe for washing silk and wool.

Humans have safely used soap nuts for washing for over 5,000 years now so you know they must be a great natural alternative to chemical laden laundry detergent that you find on your supermarket shelves. Soap nuts penetrate deeply and gently into your clothes to lift away grime, odors, soap scum, chemical residue and hard water deposits. You can read more about soap nuts by visiting Maggie’s Soap Nuts’s web site.

My Review: I was ecstatic to give these soap nuts a try for doing my laundry because for the past year, I have had intermittent issues with skin hives. As you can probably imagine, my skin is sensitive and gets irritated easily. I received a box of Maggie’s Soap Nuts along with a bottle of Maggie’s Laundry Liquid to try out in my family’s laundry. Once I got the package and read it, I was very skeptical on whether these soap nuts would really do what they claim to do. I took 5 soap nuts out of the box and placed them in the little cotton wash sack that was included. I decided to use cold water and to test drive them on a load that contained my hubby’s filthy work uniforms. I put the wash sack into the washer and started filling the washer with water. I then added his uniforms, closed the lid and walked away. About 45 minutes later I returned and took his uniforms out of the washer…I was amazed at how clean they were! (Hubby is a HVAC Tech, so trust me, he gets dirty!) I then placed his uniforms into the dryer and dried them for 50 minutes. (note: you do not place the wash sack containing the soap nuts into the dryer). Once the dryer was done, I removed his clothing and again…I was shocked that there was no clinging! Wow! You definately don’t need to use fabric softener or dryer sheets! The next test was to do a load of my own clothing…so I re-used the wash sack in my next load. Again…from start to finish, I was impressed at how clean my clothing came out of the laundry process and how soft everything was. You can re-use the wash sack with the 5 soap nuts in it up to 5 times. The real test was when I put my pj’s on later that night and woke up the next morning with absolutely no skin irritation! yeah!!!!

The other product I got to try was Maggie’s Laundry Liquid and trust me, that product worked just as well as the Soap Nuts! wootwoot! So…if you prefer liquid soap, you can go that route too.

Overall Impression: I have never tried a product like this before with our family’s laundry and I was skeptical about it at first…however, after trying both of these products in our laundry, I am a firm believer in using Maggie’s Soap Nuts in our laundry. Our clothing comes out clean, soft, whites are bright and there is no static cling! I highly recommend this company to you along with the 2 fabulous products that I have reviewed. You can save a lot of money by going the natural…green way to do your laundry with Maggie’s Soap Nuts!
