Health and Wellness Products from Tropical Traditions

July 16, 2010 by Classystaff

There has been a lot of talk about the healthy alternative to vegetable oil by using Coconut Oil. I was intrigued enough and I was pleased to be able to review Tropical Traditions Virgin Coconut oil.

Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil is a truly unrefined coconut oil. This coconut oil is made on Mt. Banahaw and surrounding areas from organic coconuts. Coconuts are used fresh (within 24-48 hours of harvest) from small family farms on Mt. Banahaw and other rural places in Quezon Province, the coconut capital of the Philippines. Only the highest quality coconuts are hand-picked from each harvest. The volcanic soil of Mt. Banahaw makes these organic coconuts some of the most nutritionally rich coconuts in the world!

The company uses a method the older generation used to extract the oil by grating the fresh coconut, extracting the coconut milk, and then letting the coconut milk stand in a covered container for about 24 hours. After about 24 hours, the oil naturally separates from the water producing a crystal clear oil that retains the full scent and taste of coconuts.

The Review:

It was rather interesting to receive the Jar of oil. It was not what I was expecting. I was excited to try it as I have heard so many good things about the use of Coconut Oil. The taste of the oil was not bad. It really didn’t taste like anything. I started simple and used the product in my smoothies in the morning. It was good. It didn’t really change the flavor at all.

I also used the oil in making some no bake cookies from a recipe that I found on this website, Free Coconut Recipes. I made the chocolate cookies and they were interesting. They reminded me of Haystack cookies and they had a good flavor. The texture was a bit different and since I was using a semi solid oil, I think that was why. But I would make them again. I would make sure I had coconut flakes on hand the next time as I think it is a requirement for this recipe. Knowing that I am using all natural products for my family with nothing processed is a huge plus. I am going to continue to use this oil for other healthy meals and other uses I have been reading about.
