Affordable Games for Family Game Night

My son has been babysitting a young girl this summer, so I thought it would be fun to get some games for them to play. RandomLine was gracious enough to provide a fun dice game for review.

RandomLine. was created in 2002 by a dad who loves to play, John Kiely. His goal is to offer products that encourage children to be creative and use their imagination. No Noise. No Batteries. Simply Imagination is RandomLine’s motto. They have created drawing games and doodling activity pads that encourage and inspire the imagination in kids and adults. These Award-Winning products are known as SQUIGGLE. Their newest addition is the game we got to review, Hurry Up.

Hurry Up is a fast moving dice game. Players compete to get the highest scores. Using a series of cards that tell you what you are rolling for, you have until the hourglass runs out to get as many points possible.

The kids had fun playing HurryUp. It is a quick game rated for ages 8 and up. It is in a small box so it would be great to throw into a travel bag or packback for a trip to grandmas.

Here’s how it works. Each player has only 30 seconds to complete each challenge which is on a playing card. There are 6 challenges in total. If a challenge is completed successfully, that player receives the challenge card points, plus they add up the points on the dice for their total score. If time runs out, they fail the challenge and get no points! The blue “wild die” adds some spice to the game as the card will sometimes tell you what that blue die has to land on!

2nd Chance Card: There is one 2nd Chance Card that a player can earn . . . if they’re lucky! A challenge has to be completed on the very first role of any challenge to earn this card. It will come in handy when a player fails a difficult challenge later in the game, because they will have a 2nd chance to complete it.

Sometimes it makes you crazy!! But it is a fun game and the kids enjoyed it although it is tough to get some of the challenges. It encourages counting and math skills in general, which I like! Here is a pic of one of them just getting started with the game.
