Mrs. Renfro’s Gourmet Salsas
Today I would like to introduce you to a company called Renfro Foods. If you have never heard of Renfro Foods, you are in for a real treat. Renfro Foods makes and sells a line of gourmet salsas under the brand name of Mrs. Renfro’s. They sell gourmet salsas, nacho cheese sauce, cane syrup, hot and mild sauces, pickles and various types of relishes. Renfro Foods has been in business since 1940 and has steadily grown since then by adding additional products along the way. Their Pineapple Salsa won the 2010 Scovie Award first place winner for fruit salsa in the processed salsa category. When a company wins awards for their products, you know it has got to be good!
If you have never visited the Renfro Foods web site, I would like to invite you to visit the site today and take a look around. One of my favorite areas of the web site is their recipe section since I am an avid cook and baker. One of the recipes you might want to make for your family is the Grilled Peach Salsa Chicken…which I made for my family just a few nights ago. Let me tell you…they devoured that chicken until there was nothing left! Matter of fact, my husband has requested that I make it again next week!

My Product Review: Renfro Foods was kind enough to send me 4 products to try out for my product review. I received: Nacho Cheese Sauce, Peach Salsa, Pineapple Salsa and the Barbecue Sauce. The first product that we tried was the Nacho Cheese Sauce and we used that over a dish of Tostitos. I topped off our concoction with some finely chopped onions, tomatoes and black olives. We loved this Mexican-Style snack! The Cheese Sauce had a wonderful cheesy flavor…with no nasty after-tastes. It was smooth and creamy in its texture which is exactly how we like it. The next item we tried was the Pineapple salsa which I used to marinate some chicken breasts. (I marinated the chicken breasts in the sauce for 6 hours and then baked them for 1 hour). The marinated chicken breasts were delicious! The next product that we tried was the Peach Salsa and let me tell you…this was our favorite! We used this salsa to make their Grilled Peach Salsa Chicken Recipe. What is really nice about making this recipe is that you just need a few chicken breasts & 1 jar of salsa. The final item that we tried was the Mrs. Renfro’s Barbecue Sauce and we decided to make 2 different dishes with it. The first was some grilled chicken wings which we grilled out on the barbecue grill for about 25 minutes over hot coals. We had some left in the jar and the next night I used the remainder in my meatloaf that I made which gave our meatloaf a nice kick! I just reduced the amount of tomato sauce that I usually add in my meatloaf and replaced it with the barbecue sauce. Simple and delicious!
My Overall Impression: The reality is this….My entire family loved each and every product that we tried from Mrs. Renfro’s Gourmet Salsas & More! Our absolute favorite was the Peach Salsa with the Pineapple Salsa running a close second…but truth be told, all 4 of the products were fantastic! I recommend Mrs. Renfro’s to you for all of your gourmet condiment needs. You should have a few jars of Mrs. Renfro’s Salsa in your pantry at all times!
