I have been doing research on spa covers and especially light weight spa covers because I am looking into buying a spa for my back yard. While I was researching, I was reading a lot of material on the foam style covers. I was not too excited about the things I was learning.

Did you know that the foam covers get saturated from the steam and the water from the spa as well as rain water and such? What happens then is they get so heavy, they are hard to lift. They also tend to break when they get old. Not cool. In fact, the one that my friend owns has a foam cover and I could not lift it open. I didn’t realize then what was going on. No wonder he told me to look for a new cover!

That is a lot of foam that is ending up in landfills. I wonder what the average time a foam cover lasts? Even if it is like 5 years, if everyone had to replace their spa cover after 3 or 4 years and they own their spa 10 or more years, that is a heck of a lot of waste. I am pretty sure foam is something that will never break down… ever.

Thankfully, I have found an alternative to the nasty foam covers in a company called SpaCap.com. This company has developed a very cool spa cover that floats right on the water and uses air to insulate the water. This helps to retain the moisture and heat in your tub so your tub will not cool down or burn through the chemicals. And because this cover is custom made for your spa, it is going to fit exactly to your specs.

I really like that this is a cover that is eco friendly. It is not something that is going to break, get water logged or end up in a land fill in 5 years. These covers are built for life and they use Sunbrella fabric so I know it is easy to care for and will look great for years.

I have to admit – cleaning is not one of my favorite things to do. But as a necessary evil, I do look for household cleaning products that work great an do not include junk that is toxic to me or my family. The new JAWS Cleaning Solutions is right up my alley.

JAWS which stands for Just Add Water is a very cool concept in cleaning products. Developed to cut down on excessive environmental impact these cleaning products are very unique. You purchase the non toxic cleaning products with 2 concentrated cartridges and one spray bottle for each product you wish to use. You then just add water and mix when you are ready to use it at home.

It is pretty cool and a simple concept. All you do is take the empty bottle and remove the sprayer. You add the water in to the fill line and drop the cartridge holding your cleaning product into the spray bottle. Then add your spray trigger lid back on and it forces out the cleaning solution into the bottle to mix with the water. A quick shake and you are ready to roll.

This line comes in 4 different solutions to use all over your home. The Glass and Hard Surface (Blue) also works on stainless steel and granite. It is ammonia free and alcohol free and it give a streak free shine. It did a great job on my windows and shined my faucets nicely!

The Multi Purpose/ Degreaser (Orange) is great for counters, tile and appliances. It cuts grease great and I love using it on my stove and overhanging microwave with fan unit. Its cleans it all super quick.

The Purple one is the JAWS Bathroom Cleaner and Deodorizer. This is fabulous in the bathroom and works great on soap scum, mineral deposits and everyday shower and bathroom grime. It did a nice job on my tub and shower.

The Green Label cleaning solution is the Disinfectant Cleaner and Degreaser. This is a broad spectrum EPA registered disinfectant that kills 99.9% of germs. You can use this on hard non porus surfaces to kill germs and viruses. I scrubbed down my trash cans and wiped my counters (non granite), refrigerator and wiped my toilets too. Nice. It did a great job!

I really like this JAWS system. They are all very are effective and easy to use. They have a great Uses Chart on their site to tell you what product works best on each surface. Very Helpful! I really like that the products use fewer plastic containers and create less waste than traditional household cleaners. If I don’t have to pay for shipping water across country, I think it will be a more effective use of my money to just buy a small refill cartridge. Save the Bottle and use it until it dies! And the price of the refills is super affordable! No worries about storage either and the product works great too!

We had the opportunity to introduce to you this jewelry designer a few weeks ago with her beautiful headache free headbands. So you know that when it comes to recycling and upcycling products I love the fact that I am supporting someone that can take an item that would be someones trash and creating something new and beautiful with it. With that, I have a designer that I want to share with you today. Victoria Tane creates sustainable eco-friendly jewelry hand made from upcycled, vintage and recycled elements. Victoria uses found objects to make elegant, wearable art.

Victoria Tane has a gorgeous selection of fabulous jewelry pieces that are just amazing works of art. I am so excited to share with you some of her works of art that you can wear. I was sent a gorgeous necklace and earrings for review today and let me tell you, I am in love with the design!

The Necklace is super long and it is made from recycled glass (I think its glass anyway)that has a bit of facet cuts so you can get some shimmer and shine with assorted silver chains and crystals. The style and color of the chains remind me of an old Victorian era necklace for some reason although it is a combination of chains from various eras and designs that are blended together. A patchwork of sorts. The length is awesome as you can double it or triple it to wear shorter or just wear it in one long necklace. A wonderful accessory to any outfit you have! I Love this!

I was also send a beautiful pair of drop earrings that have been remade from recycled beads of some sort. The large balls are a facet cut in a smoky color and the smaller beads are a blueish smokey topaz color all with lovely bronze and gold findings. Beautiful!

It is nice to see that some trash has become a treasure to others! How fun it is to see what someone can do with an artistic flair and a vision for beautiful things to wear! I hope you enjoy the products from Victoria Tane as much as I do!

Today I would like to introduce you to the company called Simple Green who makes and sells some of the best green eco-friendly cleaning products that I have ever tried. When you visit the Simple Green web store you will find window & glass cleaner, multi-surface cleaner, liquid hand soap, natural dish washing liquid, all-purpose cleaner, lemon scent all-purpose cleaner, motorsports cleaner and degreaser, stone cleaner, stone polish, stainless steel cleaner and polish and several other green cleaning products.

My Review: Today I am reviewing the Original Simple Green all-purpose cleaner for all of you. This product comes in a concentrated formula and packed into a 32 oz. bottle. It is a non-toxic, non-hazardous, non-flammable and fully bio-degradable cleaner that can be used all over the house! I love using eco-friendly household cleaners so I was ready to give this product a try.

I followed the instructions that are printed on the bottle and mixed my concentrated cleaner with tap water into spray bottle. I decided to first try it out in my kitchen as my stainless steel kitchen sink was nasty looking and had a greasy film all over it from hubby pouring some burger grease down the drain. The photo to the left is a photo of my dirty and greasy kitchen sink. If you look really closely you can see the greasy film in the bottom of the sink, ewww! I sprayed it down with the Simple Green cleaner and then used a clean, wet sponge to do some scrubbing. The first thing I want to say is that this cleaner has a nice and pleasant fragrance to it…not stinky chemical smells.

Anyway, I continued with cleaning my kitchen sink and was pleasantly suprised at how quickly and easily it removed all of the food particles and that greasy messy film that was all over my stainless steel kitchen sink. Within a matter of a couple of minutes my entire kitchen sink was sparkling clean! I also love that as it air dried that there was very little streaking so I didn’t need to go back and polish it up at all. The photo to the right is of my now sparkling clean kitchen sink!

I then used the Simple Green cleaner to scrub down all of the front’s of my kitchen cabinets, kitchen drawers and I used it to scrub down my counter top. I love how quickly and easily this cleaner works and I don’t have to spend hours upon hours scrubbing and cleaning my home. I have very sensitive sinus’ and let me tell you, since this cleaning product has no stinky chemical odors my sinus’ did just fine and were not irritate at all.

I really LOVE this Simple Green Original Cleaner and I think you would love it too! Tomorrow I am going to clean both of my bathrooms with this cleaner and I know I will get great results there too!
