Shelly’s Coastal Beach Christmas Tree and Holiday Decorations

Coastal Beach Christmas Tree and Holiday DecorationsEvery year I like to post a few photographs of my Coastal Beach Christmas Tree and holiday decorations. I’m probably the ONLY one in our entire city that decorates her home 100% in a coastal and beach theme…including during the holidays!

A lot of my coastal decorations are purchased during our travels. It’s hard to find this type of decor in our area. A small portion of our decorations are items that I’ve personally made. If I can’t find what I want…I make it!

We don’t decorate in your traditional red, white, green, gold and silver colors. We decorate in blue, turquoise, white and silver. Those colors work well with a beachy themed Christmas! It’s taken me decades to accumulate my collection and trust me, its still a work in progress.

This year I’ve added quite a few new things to my collection. I purchased 2 new coastal themed Santa’s, 3 new beach snowmen, 2 new Christmas tree ornaments, made 8 new ornaments myself for our tree, added a new beaded garland that is 75 feet long and wrapped that around the tree, bought a new holiday door wreath with LED lights and a few other things.

It’s taken me 20+ years to collect the ornaments that you see on our tree. The majority of them are glass from the “old world” Christmas ornament collection. A theme tree like this does take quite a bit of money, so I’m not going to lie to you about that. The larger glass ornaments typically cost me $15.00 and up each. The smaller glass ornaments cost me $8.00 to $15.00 each. As you can see, I’ve got hundreds of them on that tree!

At the tippy top of the tree you’ll see my Kurt Adler star-shaped tree topper that is made out of capiz shells. I like that its light-weight and really easy to get it on top of the tree! It also gives off a nice glowing light. Ambiance!

When I decorate I will put some items in the same place that I had them last year. If I wasn’t totally pleased with that look…I try something different. I always take a lot of photographs of everything so I can evaluate “the look” after the season is over. I can decide what I really liked and what I didn’t. What I need to add and buy…what I need to get rid of.

This season I took the time to go out and buy ornament storage boxes and a large roll of bubble wrap. I will be cataloging my collection and properly storing & organizing every item once the Christmas season concludes this year. I think it will make it much easier from now on when it comes to my holiday decorating.

We’re really looking forward to next year when we’ll be in our newly remodeled living room. It’s currently under HEAVY construction (new ceiling, walls, flooring, windows, etc.) so this year our coastal tree was set-up in our small family room. It’s a 5 foot pre-lit tree. I tend to stick to the 5 foot trees when doing themed trees as they’re easier to manage.

I’m really fond of snowmen and I find that they’re fun to decorate with. I like placing a few of my snowman decorations in our kitchen, dining room, bathrooms, guest rooms, etc. The majority of them I can leave out for the entire winter season because they don’t scream Christmas.

What’s your’re seeing in my post today is just a small glimpse into our holiday decorating! We go all out with our decorating both inside and outside our home! We typically start decorating in early November (especially with our outdoor lights & yard decorations) and just finished up a few days ago. We tend to start taking down things right after the New Year starting with our tree. It does take us a few weeks to get it all done!
