4 Reasons to Steam Clean Your Carpet Before the Holidays

4 Reasons to Steam Clean Your CarpetAlmost 55 million Americans are planning to greet the holiday season by traveling, and most of those will be doing so via car. The average holiday trip is within 50-99 miles of home which means if you’re staying in for the holidays, you’ll likely have more than your share of visitors. Even if you’ve ignored your mom’s or grandmother’s rants on the subject, studies have shown that excessive clutter and dirt in the home can lead to enormous amounts of unnecessary stress. Fortunately, the right professional carpet cleaner in Macomb Michigan can take some of that stress away. But why should you professionally steam clean carpets before the holidays?

Get Ahead of the Holiday Rush

You probably still have a bottomless list of things to do for the holidays, but worrying about your carpet doesn’t need to be one of them. Vacuuming is important, but even the best vacuum cleaners can’t get the deepest set, ground-in dirt and debris. Stains and odors still exist even after vacuuming multiple times per week. And renting a steam cleaner or using a store-bought one can void your carpet warranty. We can handle it all so you have less to worry about. Just be sure to schedule your appointment early to avoid the rush.

Freshen Your Home and Relax When Guests Arrive

There’s little worse than discovering your carpet and upholstery are filthy or stink right before your home fills with both expected and unexpected visitors. Chances are most of the guests will be too kind and respectful to mention anything even if they notice, but kids don’t usually have such tact and restraint. A poorly timed or worded remark can release all that pent up holiday stress and send your guests running, or make you want to go into hiding for the next year. Approximately 76% of women stress and become anxious over the condition of their homes compared to 55% of men. Avoid the stress and enjoy your guests by knowing you had your carpet professionally cleaned before they arrived.

Prepare for the Little Ones

It’s hard to have an open house or even invite over certain family and close friends without expecting the little ones to come along. In fact, those tiny tots add loads of fun to the season. But they do get into everything, even things the grown-ups miss. You probably don’t go crawling across the floor, but little ones and even school kids are likely to choose a spot on the carpet to play. Their hands can find the grossest gunk buried deep in those fibers and that gunk often ends up in their mouths. Have your carpet steam cleaned by the pros prior to your holiday visits and keep the little ones safe.

Reduce Allergens and Viruses

Carpet acts as a giant air filter in your home and it catches a lot of debris from its inhabitants as well. Dust mites are among the top allergens that get confused with sinus infections and colds. But carpet can also hold on to VOCs, household chemicals, pet dander, mold, and bacteria that cause viruses. In fact, Philip Tierno, Jr., Ph.D. of Langone Medical Center says there are approximately 200,000 bacteria per square inch of carpet which translates to it being about 4000 times dirtier than your toilet. Fix that today by calling the right professional carpet cleaner in Macomb Michigan and scheduling your pre-holiday carpet cleaning.

I our area of the country unfortunately carpeting is almost an essential especially during cold months (sigh) We will be moving come spring – we have already bought the home- and it was bank owned. They had carpet where I find it disgusting -in the kitchen YUCK!
Before we move totally in, all the carpet will be deep cleaned and hopefully soon after the kitchen will be rid of the carpeting.

  3. I am disgusted by my floors now! We take great pride in our home and the fact that we try so hard to keep our home clean. However, after reading this, our bedrooms, which are the only rooms with carpet, aren’t as clean as I thought.

    • Same! We only have wall to wall carpeting in the bedrooms. Sigh. I might need to change that come spring. I’ve been doing a lot of research lately about the germs lurking on all of those “little” things we all seldom clean. I need to make a list and publish that!

  4. We are due to clean our carpets and after reading this post I gotta get it done soon. That totally grosses me out that there are approximately 200,000 bacteria per square inch of carpet.

    • yes! Nasty and gross! We only have carpeting in 3 rooms in our home…tile, stone & hardwoods in the rest with some having area rugs that I clean several times a year.
