Home entertainment is a big thing for many of us these days and that often means trying to get a TV that delivers on sound and picture quality by providing the cinema experience in your living room.
Although technology has meant that the design of TV’s has got much thinner, the screen has become much bigger too, which poses a potential problem if floor space is at a premium.
A solution to this would be to mount your TV or install an entertainment unit, and check it out! As there are some great designs available that will go with almost any style and decor.
Here is a look at why it matters where you put your TV and what solutions are available when you are having a makeover or want to get the best out of your entertainment and design options.
Best seat in the house
Your living room may have a fair amount of natural light coming into it and that is not something you want to sacrifice for the sake of the TV, by having to close the curtains every time you want to watch a program while it’s still light outside.
One of the most effective ways to reduce glare from light coming through your windows and minimize reflections is to mount your TV on the wall. Utilizing a tv wall mounting service can be incredibly beneficial. Professionals can help you find the best bracket to suit your needs and quickly and easily install your TV, saving you the hassle and potential frustration of doing it yourself.
If you choose a mount that offers you the option of both side-to-side and tilting you will be able to adjust the position of the screen so that light does not affect your viewing experience and picture quality.
Save floor space
As already highlighted, TV’s might have got much thinner than their predecessors but they have also expanded greatly in screen size and that means that they are going to take up some serious floor space, or simply look like they do.
Unless you have an enormous living room with plenty of space in between your furniture you really do need to make every square foot count, which is why it makes a lot sense to put your TV on the wall.
In fact, if you are living in an apartment or small house, a wall-mounted scenario for your TV could be the only viable way to get your entertainment fix in style and avoid the feeling that you have suffered a serious loss of floor space.
Score some serious points on the style front
Designing the layout of your living room is not just about practicalities and you also want to try and pay some serious attention to the aesthetics of your room.
If you are seeking a modern and sleek look and feel to your living room, a quick and easy way to achieve that aim is mount your flatscreen TV on a wall.
There are plenty of efficient cable options available that allow you to achieve a neat finish to the installation and when it’s mounted and the job is done you will instantly see how it has improved the aesthetic appeal of your primary living space.
Another positive aspect of putting your TV on the wall is that it does give you infinitely more design options than deciding whether to put your screen in one corner of the room or another.
The viewing position can also be improved with a wall-mounting option, so it’s a winning idea all round when it comes to keeping an eye on style.
Wall-mounted is a safer option
Safety might not be the first thing that you think about when you are designing your room and working out where to put your widescreen TV, but if you crowd your floor space and have lots of wires trailing around, that is a situation that could lead to a trip or fall accident.
There is also the risk of your TV tipping over, especially when small children are playing in the room.
Clearing such a big item of furniture off the floor and securing it to the wall is a great way of improving safety in your room.
What you get with a good quality wall-mounting kit is something that has been specifically designed to cope with a decent level of weight, much more than the weight of the TV itself, and the fixings will make it very hard for the TV to come away from its position without uninstalling it with tools.
The installation process is easy for DIY enthusiasts
Another aspect of choosing a wall-mounted option that might deter you is the potential cost of installation if you have to call in a professional to do the job.
If you have some help with the lifting and a modicum of flair for DIY tasks, there is no reason why you couldn’t buy the kit and do the job yourself.
In general terms, the installation can be broken down into three main steps.
You first fix the bracket to your TV, which should be easy if you have chosen a bracket that is compatible with the make and model of TV that you have. Next step is to fix the wall plate to the wall after you have taken time to check the measurements and are happy with the position in the room.
Finally, you attach your TV to the wall plate and make sure everything is tightened up and where it should be.
It really isn’t as challenging as it might sound to install your own TV bracket and it shouldn’t be a reason for not pursuing that option.
Not an expensive option
If you can do the installation yourself that will save some money and keep you on budget and the other good news is that most wall bracket kits are not overly expensive for what you get.
If you are going to invest in a decent widescreen HD TV the cost of a bracket and a solution for hiding the cables should be only a small element of your total budget, and justifiable if you want to get the best out of your TV viewing.
Modernizing your living room and improving the look and feel of the space that you spend so much time in is something that becomes much easier when you choose to put your TV on the wall.
These are all good reasons to mount your TV. The most important one for me is the safety issue – to get t out of the reach of my grandchildren.
We haven’t mounted our big screen television yet but after reading this post I really want to. I like the safety of a mounted tv and also saving floor space.
Thank goodness for the thin TV. I like saving floor space.
Good advice about TV safety! And I like the shelving in the room shown–so cool and useful!
I don’t mind mounting the TV, but I don’t understand why it’s often mounted so high. I don’t like having look to up at the TV. I want the TV at eye height when sitting down.
Very good reasons to wall mount your TV. I do not even have a TV so this isn’t for me.
