Chex Mix Muddy Buddies Snack Mix Recipe

Have you ever tried the Chex Mix Cereal Muddy Buddies Snack Mix recipe? If not, you’re really missing out! My mom has been making their original recipe for that snack mix for years! Our entire family loves it, so she whips it up quite often for all of us to enjoy.

My mom follows their original recipe and sometimes she’ll add-in her own additional ingredients like crushed pretzel sticks, M&M candies, Reeses Pieces, Peanuts, Cashews, etc. You can add-in any additional goodies that you particularly like. Here’s their recipe.

Chex Mix Muddy Buddies Snack Mix Recipe

3 cups of Rice Chex Cereal
3 cups of Corn Chex Cereal
3 cups of Chocolate Chex cereal
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups powdered 10X sugar

In a large mixing bowl combine together all of the Chex cereals until combined; set aside.

In a large microwaveable bowl melt together the chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter until smooth. Do this on the high setting at 30 second intervals until smooth and creamy. Remove from microwave and stir in the vanilla extract until combined.

Pour the chocolate mixture into the mixing bowl that contains the cereal. Use a large spoon and stir until everything is combined and the chocolate mixture is coating all of the goodies in the mixing bowl. Pour the confectioner’s sugar into the bowl and stir again until all ingredients are well combined and everything is coated in the confectioner’s sugar.

Cover bowl. You can store in the refrigerator or at room temperature like we do.

Note: Chex has some new “flavored” cereals out in the retail market and my mom has been experimenting with using them in their recipe. So far…we’ve liked the Blueberry Chex and the Vanilla Chex substituted for either the Rice or Corn Chex. You can play around with them to find the combination that you personally like.

I love this stuff. The best batch I ever made was when I screwed up melting some chocolate and wound up with chunks of chocolate in it, lol.

  4. I like this variation with the chocolate chex mix and the chocolate chips. Looks like a yummy snack.

  6. This looks delicious! I love Chex Party Mix but I have never had it with powder sugar on it. Really neat twist on a traditional fav.
