Kid’s Birthday Party Construction Helmet Craft Activity

My son recently turned 3 years old and we hosted his birthday in our home and did all of the decorating ourselves. We enjoy hosting birthday parties for our children and this year we did a Construction Site theme for his party. My son is really into construction vehicles, diggers, dump trucks, bull dozers, cement trucks, etc. The perfect theme for him!

Over the next few weeks I’ll be sharing some Construction Site Birthday Theme Party Ideas with all of you and linking them together. This was a really fun theme do to! If you like our Construction Site Birthday Cupcakes, you can check out our Birthday Cupcakes post.

Every time I host a birthday party for one of my kids…I always plan out some type of craft activity. I like to get the kids working on something creative as soon as they arrive. It keeps them occupied as guests arrive (they all arrive at different times), allows the party host to greet the guests and for adults to mingle.

Kid’s Birthday Party Construction Helmet Craft Activity

For this project I picked up some kid’s plastic construction helmets from Amazon. They’re sold 12 helmets per package, so I purchased 2 packs. You can get the coolest construction site vehicle stickers, Sharpie Markers, etc. all from Amazon, one-stop shopping at its best!

To go along with the helmets I purchased a wide variety of different stickers from our local Dollar Store and 3 packs of colored markers. I was lucky to find a few packs of construction site and construction vehicle stickers which was really nice. If you’re having little girls at the party, make sure you also provide a few packs of “girlish” stickers too!

Put all of your craft supplies onto a table and let the children decorate their own construction helmet party hats! They can wear them during the party and/or take them home. This activity kept the kids busy for about 40 minutes.

We awarded prizes for the best decorated hat, the silliest hat, the hat with the most stickers, etc. You can decide on your own “award” categories. At our local Dollar Store I picked up some construction vehicles and die-cast trucks which made for the perfect party prizes!

This is a great idea. The kids love decorating their own crafts and it gives time for parents to mingle too.

This is a really cute idea!! My son turned 3 in August and we had a paw patrol theme party, it would have been a great idea for me to have purchased fire fighter helmets and add paw patrol stickers. This is something i’ll have to think of for next year, we ended up renting a water slide and all the kids had so much fun

I love this idea of having the kids make their own Construction helmets. You have so many cute crafts.

Nothing makes my grandson happier than his trucks. This party would be a dream come true for him!

This is a really neat idea. You could gear it toward whatever your kid is into, too, with Fire helmets, cowboy/girl hats, baseball helmets. Great idea.

  6. This is such a fun idea and something they will remember forever. I had a construction helmet like this one when I was little I think I still have it somewhere around here with my keepsakes.

  7. How cute is this idea! I would never have thought of a Construction helmet craft project at a birthday party. I can see this as being a big hit with kids and I know they will love taking their hats home with with them.
