Children’s Book: When Fur and Feather Get Together

An exciting addition to the must-have collection of children’s favorites is the newly released When Fur and Feather Get Together by David Margrave (Clovercroft Publishing, April 2018).

* Complimentary Book Received for Review.

Complete with rhyming lessons about what groups of animals are called when they get together, children will love learning things like: a group of rhinos is a crash, as assembly of owls is a parliament, and unicorns together are a blessing. At the end of the book, Margrave closes with something that applies to all of the groups, which is the beauty and meaning of family.

Accompanied by whimsical, heartwarming illustrations by Kim Wyly, When Fur and Feather Get Together gives the reader the opportunity to teach their child:

* Animals have families too, and have fun spending time and playing with them.

* Learning doesn’t have to be serious—it can be silly too!

* Although people and animals may be different from each other, they also have many things in common.

* Why it’s so important to build memories through spending time with family, and learning from one another.

My Thoughts: I have 2 grandchildren who spend a lot of time at my home. Every time they stay overnight, we take the time to read books to one another before bedtime. My granddaughter is 8 1/2 years old and my grandson is 2 1/2 years old. As you can imagine, it can be difficult to find books that BOTH of them would enjoy together (due to their age difference).

Last weekend the kids stayed overnight and we read the new “When Fur and Feather Get Together” book by author David Margrave and they loved it! My granddaughter loved guessing the names of the different animal groups and my grandson enjoyed looking at all of the photos of the different animals that are featured throughout the book.

The story line is simple and an easy-read for children, while being educational at the same time. The illustrations by Kim Wyly are absolutely adorable! As a family, we’ve been enjoying this book and it has quickly become a favorite in my grandchildren’s reading library.

This does sound like a fun book to read. It is hard to find books that 2 kids of different ages can both enjoy8.
