One in three Americans are at risk for chronic kidney disease. Kidney disease causes more deaths than breast cancer or prostate cancer and is the 9th leading cause of death in the U.S. It is estimated that 30 million people in the U.S. are affected, but 90% of those with kidney disease don’t even know they have it! It’s time to do something about that!!!

While the stats are super compelling, it’s also relevant to *MARCH* National Kidney Disease Prevention Month and *APRIL* National Donate Life Month.

The Mendez National Institute of Transplantation Foundation (MNITF) is a 501c3 non-profit organization founded in 1994 that has created the “Get the Facts! Get Checked! Get Healthy!” PSA which delivers a strong call-to-action about kidney disease prevention, the need for organ donation, and learning more about research, education and innovation at FixingPaco.org. Please take a few minutes out of your day today…to go to the website and educate yourself.

The website shares testimonial videos from actual kidney disease and dialysis patients and living donors with compelling stories. Watching these short videos are really enlightening and educational. Please share one or two of them with your family, friends and/or co-workers to help spread awareness. Education and early detection is key. Thank you!!!

  1. There are so many waiting and waiting for a new kidney. I know a couple of people who have been on dialysis waiting and time ran out. I believe in organ donation and ever since I wa able, have had that organ donor checked off on my license. Great article and thank you for posting about it.
