Update Your Out-of-Date Bathroom with a Sleek, Modern Design

Update Your Out-of-Date Bathroom with a Sleek, Modern DesignNot every home improvement project brings in high equity gains, but updating your bathroom does. Careful planning, choosing the right tub for the right space, and updating out-of-date fixtures makes for a higher quality living space as well as increased equity. This small space is simple to furnish and capable on any budget.

Choose a Modern Design

Before tearing up the first tile or deciding on a new fixture, determine the overall look you are going for. Knowing you are going for a modern look is not enough. You need to carefully work out each step of the interior design before taking the first step. Careful planning will help you stay within a budget.

A modern design utilizes geometric shapes and patterns. It uses clean lines and minimal colors creating a simplistic clean feeling. To achieve this look you will need to be able to hide clutter in built-shelving and cabinetry. Geometric shapes add character in backsplashes and on floors. Natural lighting and floor-to-ceiling mirrors brighten the room. White and greys are more desired then bright flashy pops of color. Potted succulents lend to a nice clean geometric organic feel.

The Center Piece

A well designed, sleek and comfortable bathtub makes for a beautiful focal point in any bathroom. Don’t let a dated tub distract from the sleek, spa-like sanctuary you wish to retreat to every day. If you are uncomfortable looking or soaking in your tub then your overall interior design is failing. These freestanding bathtubs from Kardiel are simplistic and eye catching. Choosing a beautiful tub is a simple way to add beauty and minimalize clutter. A freestanding tub adds for a symmetrical sharp statement. When the furnishings are eye catching works of art the rest of the room can act as a frame rather then a distraction. Make your tub the center piece designing the rest of the room to lead the eye to it’s beauty.

Simple Budget Fixes

Don’t re-do the plumbing for cosmetic reasons. Instead, use the plumbing layout as it is and focus on creating a sleek relaxing oasis instead. Sink the big money into the actual functioning components, like the tub, shower and ventilation. Find other ways to keep your budget light and your equity on the rise. Simple fixes are in replacing the cabinet hardware rather than the entire cabinets. Update your shower heads and lighting fixtures. If possible increase the natural light by removing bulky window coverings. Paint your bathroom walls and trim. If your floor needs re-doing, consider a glazed concrete or a white subway tile. Add green plants or small white flowers on window ledges or countertops to give an airy clean feel. It doesn’t have to cost a small fortune to go from out-of-date to sleek and modern.

Your bathroom is a functioning piece of art. There are many things to consider before beginning a remodel. While renovating your home to build equity, unless moving is close on the horizon, you are not remodeling for future homeowners but for your own comfort. Take into consideration what you love and hate. How will updating increase your own quality of life? Will it provide comfort and ease to your day?
