I love getting out all of my baking supplies and whipping up delicious cookies, cakes, pies, breads and other type’s of desserts. While buying pre-made mixes at the grocery store are convenient, my family enjoys homemade!

One of my favorite brands when it comes to pure extracts is Nielsen-Massey. I’ve been using their products for the past 7 years and they’re my go-to brand when I need pure and flavored extracts. I’ve been using their almond, orange and lemon extracts for several years and I always have a bottle of their vanilla extract in my pantry.

For this recipe feature I received a complimentary bottle of the Organic Fairtrade Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract to try out for all of you. When using it in your recipes, 1 tablespoon is equal to 1 vanilla bean. All of the Nielsen-Massey extracts come in sealed bottles and you’ll find a Best By Date stamped on the label.

Mom’s Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup light brown sugar
1 teaspoon Nielsen-Massey Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract
2 large eggs
1 bag (12 ounce) chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

In a small mixing bowl, combine the first 3 ingredients and set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, cream softened butter and sugars together until fluffy. Add vanilla extract and the eggs. Beat well. Sift dry ingredients into the cream mixture. Mix well. Stir in chocolate chips by hand.

Take heaping tablespoons of dough and roll into a ball. Place each ball 2″ apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes. Remove cookies from oven, place on cooling rack. Once they’re cool, store cookies in an airtight canister. Makes approximately 3 1/2 dozen of cookies.

One of the reasons that I think these cookies turn out so chewy, flavorful and delicious is because I used the Nielsen-Massey Organic Fairtrade Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract. The vanilla is very rich and flavorful. You don’t need to go over-board when using it at all. If you use those imitation vanilla “cheapo” extracts, you’re really doing a disservice to your baking projects. Always…and I mean ALWAYS use a high-quality and pure vanilla extract!!!

    Madagascar Burbon I bet would be amazing as well. I am a vanilla extract crazy lady lol. Even my 8 year old knows well cut out the unimportant things on our grocery list so we can afford to buy real vanilla for baking, no matter what, I can NOT use the imitation stuff!!
