No More Clogged Drains with TubShroom and ShowerShroom

No More Clogged Drains with TubShroom and ShowerShroomOf all the usual household chores, it seems to me that cleaning the bathroom drains is among the most distasteful. It’s inevitable, though, when hair accumulates after showering, bathing, shaving, and even washing pets. Ewww.

The founders of the Juka Innovations Corporation felt the same way, and in 2016, they developed the TubShroom for easy and chemical-free drain cleaning. The TubShroom is a mushroom-shaped silicone insert for the bathtub drain that allows water to flow through it while catching any hairs and preventing them from clogging the pipes. It’s simple to then remove the TubShroom from the drain and wipe away all the accumulated hair with a tissue or towel, either when it’s wet or later when it’s dry. Genius!

The ShowerShroom works the same way as the TubShroom, but it’s sized for the drain of a stand-alone shower, fitting just under the shower’s grate. Both products are compatible with most modern drains, with the TubShroom for 1.5” bathtub drains and the ShowerShroom for 2” shower drains. In most homes, they can be installed without any tools, although it may take a screwdriver to remove an existing grate (as I had to do in our bathtub).

They come in a nice range of colors to match or contrast with any bathroom décor. The TubShroom and ShowerShroom I received to review are in the very pretty Marine Blue.

As my hair has begun to go grey, it has gotten thicker and more coarse. I also lose more of it when I shower, so I wanted to try these “shrooms” to see if they really would help with the drain problems my hair causes. The short answer is yes, the TubShroom really works as promised! After showering, I just removed the TubShroom from the drain, grabbed some tissue, wiped all that hair away, and tossed the tissue in the trash. Best of all, none of the hair went down the drain!

Unfortunately, the previous owners of our older home grouted the shower drain cover permanently into place, so I couldn’t install the ShowerShroom in our shower stall. The drain in the tub/shower in our guest bathroom is also slightly odd, in that the cross-piece that the TubShroom rests on is only a quarter-inch or so from the top rather than an inch or two down, so my TubShroom extends higher from the drain than it’s designed to. It still works, but if we ever have a plumber in the house, I may ask him to adjust that for me.

The TubShroom is exactly what I need for our tub. Hairs do get our drain clogged up. My husband has been putting liquid plumber down ours. It works But I too hate Chemicals. I will have to buy a TubShroom & try it. I can’t wait.. Thank you for this awesome Review!

  2. Looks like a very useful product. If your drain is just the right size. My house is old and I don’t think these would fit.

  3. This sounds like something I need.

  4. I can sure use one of these in my shower drain. It’s actually slow to drain water now so need to clean the clog and install one of these babies. I’m marching right over to BBB with a coupon and purchase this. I really don’t care what color is it since it’s in the tub that only I will see, lol.

  5. I have never heard of this product before and now I so want to try it. I am always pulling little bits of food out of the kitchen sink trying to make sure that it doesn’t go down and this would be wonderful to have thanks for sharing this one.
