We’re big fans of fish and seafood and try to incorporate it into our diets a minimum of three times a week for the health benefits. In case you didn’t know, Salmon is a natural source of healthy long-chain omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids are considered an essential fatty acid, necessary for human health, which the body cannot produce itself. The Dietary Guidelines for Americans published by the US Departments for Health and Agriculture, recommend eight or more ounces of seafood per week for adults, with oily fish like salmon particularly recommended for their higher amounts of EPA and DHA fatty acids.
Regal New Zealand King Salmon is now available in the Costco Northeast region, ending the foodie’s search for the holy grail of the salmon species – the King.
Sustainably farm-raised in the deep, clear waters of the Marlborough Sounds of New Zealand’s South Island, antibiotic-free Regal King Salmon is often regarded as the most premium of all salmon. Conveniently portioned for each diner and individually vacuum-packed, the high oil content gives Regal King Salmon a wonderfully rich flavor and “melt in your mouth” texture, making it perfect for roasting, grilling, pan-searing, poaching, and smoking.
Available as of June 30 in Costco’s Northeast region, which includes the states of New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia. The salmon can be found in the frozen seafood department with a retail price of $28.99 per bag (5 x 7-ounce portions per re-sealable bag).
For this foodie feature we received a complimentary bag of the Regal New Zealand King Salmon to try out for all of you. We love salmon and decided to whip up one of our favorite recipes. This Honey Dijon Salmon Recipe is really easy to prepare and only requires a few standard ingredients.
I made the recipe for a recent family dinner and everyone devoured it! What’s really nice about the Regal New Zealand King Salmon is that each portion (serving) comes individually frozen. You can thaw out however many that you need. For our dinner, I thawed them all out in my refrigerator which took approximately 4 hours.
- 3 salmon fillets
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 3 Tbsp. Dijon mustard
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. Manuka honey
- 1/4 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs
- 2 tsp. parsley
- 1 tsp. oregano
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. ground black pepper
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Place butter into a bowl. Microwave on high for 10-15 seconds to melt it. Remove. Stir in the Dijon mustard, Manuka honey, parsley, oregano, salt and ground black pepper until combined.
- Place Italian seasoned bread crumbs into a small bowl.
- Brush both sides of salmon fillets with the mustard & honey sauce. Place fillets into a baking dish and spoon the remaining sauce on top. Sprinkle bread crumbs on top of the sauce, covering the top half.
- Place baking dish in a preheated 350 degree oven. Bake for 14-16 minutes or until done. Your baking time will depend on the thickness of your salmon fillets. Once done, remove from oven and serve immediately.
Next, I really loved the portion size of 7 ounces. Generous portion sizes which are spot-on for a filling lunch or dinner. Finally, the taste of this salmon is some of the best that we’ve ever had! It’s the kind of salmon fillets that you would get at a very expensive high-end restaurant, except…now you can enjoy that same high-quality at home! The flaky-texture of each fillet was perfect too! Absolutely perfect!!!
We’ll definitely be picking up some more Regal New Zealand King Salmon the next time I’m doing my shopping at Costco! You can connect with the company on Facebook too.
