Blogging: Where are the Negative Reviews?

Where are the Negative ReviewsOver the years we’ve been asked many times the following question. “Where are the negative product reviews?” Today, I’m going to answer it here on the blog.

It has always been Two Classy Chics blog policy to give sponsors & companies the opportunity to NOT have their review published if we have nothing positive to say about the product. If we feel that we can’t promote a product to our readers, we write the review and email it to the company to let them know how we feel about it. We give them the option to have that review published and 9 times out of 10, they will opt out. This is why you don’t see the majority of them. Have we ever published one? Of course!

With that said, we try to find the positives in every product that we review. If we don’t like a movie, a salad dressing or a pair of pants for whatever reason, we will say so in our review & also state that we are all individuals and just because we didn’t like something, doesn’t mean you won’t.

If you’ve been reading this blog long enough…you will already know that our reviews are 100% HONEST and that we really do try out each & every product that we review. We are NOT about quantity here on this blog, we don’t care to publish a dozen non-genuine reviews here…nope, sorry! We are all about writing quality reviews and sharing our honest opinions with our readers, YOU!

You can always tell which blogs are about Quantity versus those blogs who are all about Quality. If you see a dozen + posts being slammed up every day with a crap-load of copy/paste information within them…well, that speaks to quantity, not quality. Plus, if you see bloggers NEVER or RARELY publishing original photographs that they’ve personally taken with their reviews, well, again…you have to be suspicious on whether they actually tried out the product. Trust me, there are people who “fake it” and don’t try out products and simply re-sell them for profit. It’s a shame, but every profession has a few bad apples.

Let me give you a little example of something that happened almost 2 years ago.

I wrote a review on a pair of women’s capri pants. I loved the color, the fabrication and how they fit around my waist, etc. Within that review…I mentioned that in MY OPINION, they were NOT capris, but actually ankle-length pants because they hit me right above the ankle, not right below my knees. I’m of average height 5 foot 6″ tall and they were supposed to be for average height. I loved almost everything about those pants, except I thought the length (size) was very mis-leading.  I published the review which was 90% positive and even so, that company never worked with any member of our team again. What a shame, but we will ALWAYS be honest with our readers.

With all of that said, I wanted to finally answer this question publicly here on Two Classy Chics blog, so that everyone could read our answer. You can be assured that every review you read on this blog is our 100% honest opinion, good or bad.

  1. I love this post and could not agree more. I get so tired of reading fake reviews on other blogs. Like when they post that the movie was so so so wonderful blah blah blah when you knew it was terrible. I enjoy your honesty that is why this is my favorite blog hands down.

    • I can spot those “fake” reviews a mile away. A good blogger will point out a few negatives from time to time. A good blogger will take photos of the product being used and be as descriptive about the product as much as possible. I crack up laughing when I read reviews that contain press release copy/paste language where the blogger is even too lazy to remove wordage like: “Please share this info with your readers” or “We think this will interest you and your readers”. Geesh. At least edit the language before you paste the words into your blog post.

  2. Lets see, how many years have I been reading your blog? At least 3 and maybe 4 or more. I feel you give only your honest opinions of what you review. (and capris are NOT ankle length).

This is precisely why I read your blog and have followed so long. You are very honest with the reviews, and you dont offer your readers things you yourself dont feel is either what it says it is or doesnt do what it supposed to do.
I think those of us who have ‘been around’ can tell quantity over quality, and trust me, there is a HUGE difference in those who prioritize quality . You write well thought out reviews, your pictures are not stock and if I was a company I would look for a blog like yours.
I appreciate what you do, from your reviews, to how you all conduct yourselves online.
    Keep it up!

    • Thank you Ellen. I feel it’s always best to be honest. I wouldn’t want to lie and a reader go out and buy such and such item and then come back onto the blog to call me out about lying. I know if I was looking for product recommendations, I would HOPE that what I’m reading was the truth. Sadly though, many LIE just so they have the oppty. to work with such and such company.
