Tasty, Wholesome Beetology Beet Juice Blends

Beetology Beet Juice BlendsIt seems to me that beets are underappreciated. Not only are they delicious, but they’re extremely nutritious, too. Happily, I just learned of a simple way to enjoy the flavor and benefits of beets, with Beetology beet juice blends.

Kayco, a major producer and worldwide distributor of Kosher foods, released the Beetology line of all-natural beet juice blends In April of this year. For my review, I received all five of Beetology’s flavors:

Beet + Cherry
Beet + Berry
Beet + Veggie
Beet + Lemon + Ginger
Beet + Tropical Fruit

When I received my samples, I was immediately struck by the juice’s rich color as well as the beautiful shape of the bottles, which were specially designed to echo Beetology’s tag line, “Layers of Flavors.” I couldn’t bear to put such pretty bottles in the recycling bin, and I’m sure I’ll find a good use for them, perhaps to store dry goods or craft supplies. Anyway, back to real star of the show, the juice!

We had a weekend houseguest and thought it would be fun to have a Beetology tasting, so we lined up the juices and some glasses and got busy. Between a lot of seriously bad beet-related puns, we gave all the flavors a try. We agreed that all five varieties are almost surprisingly good, nicely sweet with subtle but complex flavors. There was even some talk of using them as an ingredient in cocktails (Beety Mary, anyone?).

In the end, each of us had a different favorite. My top pick was the Beet + Veggie, which has a light sweetness to balance its vegetable-based aroma and flavor. My husband’s fave was the Beet + Tropical Fruit, with its blend of familiar and exotic fruit flavors, and our guest chose the Beet + Cherry for its fruity, well-rounded taste. I imagine that if more people had been at the table, the Beet + Lemon + Ginger and the Beet + Berry would each have been a winner, too.

The company defines beetology as “the art of creating delicious beverages and foods from one of nature’s most nutrient dense vegetables and the finest organically grown fruits.” All Beetology varieties are preservative-free 100% juice blends with no artificial colors, flavors, or additives. They are also Certified Fair Trade, non-GMO, and USDA Certified Organic. These cold-pressed juice blends aren’t made from concentrates, and their ingredient lists reflect the pure fruits and vegetables that go into them; for example, the Beet + Cherry blend is made from beet juice, tart cherry juice, and apple juice—nothing more—and is only 100 calories.

To find out where you can buy Beetology juices, check the store locator on Beetology’s Facebook page. Look for Beetology juices in the refrigerated section. The single-serving 8.45-ounce bottles retail for about $3.99 apiece.

These beet juice combinations do sound good. Beet juice is naturally sweet and I think it would go well with other juices.

  2. I have tried some cold pressed juices and found them very flavorful. I have not tried any with beet juice but think they would be very tasty especially since I like beets. I would really like to try the beet and cherry one.
