Boosting a Child’s Immune System with Liquid Vitamin C

Shel's GrandsonWhen my daughter was little one of her doctors educated me on several different vitamins that help to boost your immune system. At the time, Jenelle was catching every single cold, flu and illness that circulated around her daycare facility. As a parent, I was tired of seeing my daughter sick and I was tired of shelling out a ton of money on medical bills.

One thing that the doctor recommended to us was increasing her daily diet with foods that were high in natural Vitamin C. We added those type’s of foods in, but it wasn’t enough. She was still getting sick and she was still miserable!

The next thing that he recommended to us was to go out and purchase liquid vitamin C and to give her 1 teaspoon of the Vitamin C every day. So, in addition to increasing her daily diet to include foods that are naturally high in Vitamin C, we added in the new supplement.

Over the next 8 weeks, we slowly saw an improvement and by the end of 16 weeks, we saw a HUGE difference! I would estimate that we saw a good 75% improvement in her overall health and when she did get sick, it didn’t last as long (in duration) and the symptoms weren’t too bad. To this day, my 31 year old takes a daily dose of Vitamin C.

Both of my grandchildren have been having the same issues that my daughter had when she was younger. My grandson catches every single illness that goes around at preschool and my granddaughter catches every stinking germ that goes around her elementary school. I REALLY WISH that parents would keep their children home from school while sick, but sadly, they don’t! That’s another gripe for another time.

Child Life Liquid Vitamin C for Children

Anyway, I recently ordered Child Life Liquid Vitamin C in an orange flavor from Amazon. I had searched for over 2 1/2 weeks at local retail stores for a liquid form of the vitamin that was made especially for children and couldn’t find one. Alas, I hit my favorite online retailer Amazon and found some within minutes!

For the past 2 1/2 weeks BOTH of my grandchildren have been taking their Vitamin C and I’m hoping to see some great results in the coming weeks. I’m glad that they have this orange flavor which both of them are pretty happy to take. (Let’s face it, if it taste’s terrible, kids just won’t take it or it’s a battle to get it into them).

Since I have stomach issues and have a hard time digesting pills, I’m going to order a few more bottles and put myself on it, to see if it helps to improve my own immune system. Heck, it won’t hurt me, so it’s worth a try.

How many of you take a Vitamin C supplement? If you do, do you take it in pill, chewable or liquid form? How long have you been taking it? I’m a FIRM believer in the power of Vitamin C, especially when it comes to helping to boost the immune system.

I have always been a believer in Vitamin C. Even if it doesn’t prevent you from getting sick it always seems to shorten the duration of the illness. I take it in pill form.

  2. I’ve not used the liquid vitamin C but have used the powder and the spray version. I make sure when I take water soluble vitamins like C, that I space it throughout the day. Your body can’t absorb a high dose all at once and it just passes through into your urine, wasting money. If I feel like a cold may be coming, I take extra vitamin C and feel it helps me get back to good health faster.

  3. I find this interesting because I have taken a Vitamin C supplement in the past but felt like it bothered my stomach so stopped. This would be so helpful to take something like this especially during the cold and flu season which hit us hard this year.

This looks like a very good product and not expensive. I think getting extra Vitamin C is so important for child because they get colds and other illnesses so easy.
