Fun Frugal Finds: Women’s Ponchos for Spring

Frugal Finds and Hot DealsLike most women, I love to shop! However, I’m a bargain shopper and I’m always looking for bargain basement and clearance deals. I very rarely pay full price for things that I want because I know that every penny that I save…is a penny that is earned towards vacation!

About 15 years ago I fell in-love with wearing ponchos. I have limited mobility issues with my right shoulder, so hoodies are not my cup of tea. Instead, I like to toss a poncho over my head and just go! During the past 15 years, I think I’ve purchased about 20 or so ponchos and love wearing them three seasons out of the year.

Now that spring is here…I wanted to get a new light-weight poncho for the spring and summer season. I wanted a style that could be dressed up or worn casually and I wanted a color or pattern that would work with almost everything in my wardrobe.

One of my FAVORITE places to shop online is called ShopLC and I typically buy a LOT of my jewelry from them which is always at a bargain price! People always compliment me on my jewelry pieces that I buy from ShopLC.

Anyway, I found a gorgeous gray and white striped poncho on their website on clearance. The front is grey & white striped, the back is a solid color. I guess the white is really more like an ivory now that I think about it. What I like about this poncho is that it’s an acrylic knit and a one-size fits most. Plus, it has the prettiest little faux white pearls attached onto the front of it along with trendy fringe which is all of the rage in fashion right now.

Okay, let’s get to the frugal part. I paid a little over $10.00 for the poncho to be shipped to my home and that included the shipping! I had seen a similar poncho like this one at the mall just 2 weeks ago for $39.95 and I’m so glad that I didn’t buy it! This one is absolutely gorgeous and you can’t beat paying a little over ten bucks for it (including shipping).

Thanks mom for modeling my new poncho for me! So, ladies…do you like wearing ponchos? Have you found any bargain deals lately?

  1. I have never worn a poncho but seeing this makes me think I should look for one. It looks very nice and super to have something that is so easy to wear and looks stylish. What a great deal to get it for under $10.
I got some good deals on clothes this week at a retail store but had to go back because they did not give me the clearly marked sales price. So irritating and I find that I have to be really diligent to check my receipts to make sure I get the right price.

  2. I love all my ponchos and most of mine are made from lovely knitted or crochet yarns and I keep them in bags so they are nice and look new, although they’re years old. I’m so glad I kept them as they are great for hot flashes! I must take jackets on and off a dozen times, but lightweight ponchos are just perfect.

I am old enough to remember when ponchos first came in style. In fact one of my school pictures I am in one much to my Mothers disappointment at the time. I loved that poncho. I liked wearing them and perhaps I will have to get one again… now they are in style again!

  4. I do love wearing ponchos and sure could use a new one. I can’t believe that you got this one for a little over $10.00 plus shipping that is amazing. I have kind of stopped shopping at the mall because the clothes cost a fortune and they aren’t really anything special.

    • It was actually a little over $10.00 Including the tax & shipping! I went back and purchased 5 more ponchos in various styles & colors for myself and my daughter. We love them!

  5. I don’t even own a poncho. Not quite sure why. I dislike shopping at any time. Usually a trip to the thrift store if I NEED something.

I have a brown fuzzy poncho I wear in the fall. I love it. It would be nice to have a light one for the spring.

I have always wanted to buy a poncho but never really have yet. I really like the fact that they hang loose! I just can’t stand tight clothing. Not so comfortable for me. The one you show is so pretty. Really like it. I will check out ShopLC .. It sounds like my type of shop! Thank you for sharing this post.

I don’t wear a lot of ponchos, but I love looking for bargains. I have to go to ShopLC and see if there is anything I like there. I have been able to get some good bargains at KMart using my reward points.
