How many of you enjoy a good chocolate mousse? I know I do! However, I do get bored with a plain chocolate mousse, so when I see a recipe that mixes in some yummy flavors along with it…well, I’m all over that!
Check out this recipe from our friends over at Pritikin Longevity Center + Spa and it’s courtesy of Chef Anthony Stewart.
Chocolate Banana Mousse Recipe
CHOCOLATE MOUSSE
2 cups cocoa powder pure Dutch unsweetened
1 cup Splenda
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups skim milk or soy milk warm
1/4 cup egg whites whipped until fluffy
BANANA COMPOTE
4 bananas sliced crosswise
3 tablespoons apple juice concentrate thawed
1 teaspoon cinnamon ground
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg ground
CHOCOLATE MOUSSE
In a large stainless steel bowl, pour cocoa powder and Splenda. Mix well.
In a small bowl, combine vanilla and milk. Using a wire whisk, gradually whisk vanilla/milk mixture into cocoa mixture. When fully incorporated, fold in whipped egg whites and Banana Compote.
BANANA COMPOTE
In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine all ingredients and cook until bananas begin to break down but are still chunky, about 5 minutes.
Remove from heat and cool. Then fold in to Chocolate Mousse.
Chef’s Note: To dress up your mousse for festive occasions, use parfait or martini glasses. In the bottom of each glass, place a few berries. Then add the mousse. Chill. Serve topped with a dollop of fat-free Greek yogurt or fat-free sour cream.
I absolutely Love Chocolate Mouse! One of my many favorites. This Yummy sounding recipe even adds a extra taste adding the Bananas Thank You for sharing this Delicious Recipe. I cant wait to make it..
I love this chocolate banana mousse recipe. It is low in both fat and sugar. I would worry a little about fresh uncooked egg whites.
This looks so lovely and I bet it tastes great. I do like to order mousse for dessert but have never made it myself. This recipe does not look too challenging so it is one that I would try.
Great flavors in this dish. I like chocolate with bananas.
This does look really good. I’m trying to lose weight, so I’d love something rich & chocolatey right now. I like using Splenda!
I don’t usually have mousse so never heard of this recipe. It seems unique.
That’s a lovely picture of the dessert by the way.
That seems like a lot of cocoa. My cocoa container doesn’t even hold anywhere near two cups. Maybe I’ll cut the recipe down to try it. I love using cocoa powder though and usually for me, a little goes a long way. The cinnamon and nutmeg sound perfect in this too.
This sounds like it would be a good option for someone with diabetes II. My husband was recently diagnosed and it is so confusing figuring out what to feed him. I am going to try this.
This looks delicious. I am a huge fan of mousse. Although I dont eat much chocolate, something like this I could eat with no problem. I like how you added fruit, the bananas would be especially good with it.
