Roasted Dates Recipe

36 pitted dry dates
12 slices of Bayonne Prosciutto
Manchego cheese: 4oz
Honey: ½ tbl spoon
Heavy cream: 1 cup

Melt half the Manchego cheese with the cream in a saucepan, salt and pepper, boil and then mix everything together in a blender. Put aside in a cooler.

Stuff the dates with Manchego cheese: 2 gr. per date. Wrap the dates 3 by 3 with one slice of Bayonne prosciutto.

Bake the dates in an oven at 400 degrees F. for 4 minutes, then top the dates with honey and re-bake for 1 minute. Plate and serve with the dressing on the side.

From Carol: I’m not a huge fan of dates, but I think this would be a recipe that I would enjoy making (because it’s easy to prepare) and one that I would enjoy eating because I love Manchego cheese! While I wouldn’t make it all of the time, I think it would be nice to whip up for special occasions. What about you? Do you enjoy eating dates? If so, how do you like them prepared?

THis sounds like a delicious recipe to make . I love the combination of dates with Manchego cheese.

  2. I haven’t eaten dates very often but this looks like an interesting recipe and one that might be good to take for an appetizer. With the prosciutto and cheese they would be extra special.

I love dates but I can’t imagine them with prosciutto and cheese. Unusual treat.

I do like dates, but I’ve usually used them in baking. They’re great in cookies & sweets. I have to say, I never thought of using them like this, but it would probably be really good.

  5. I’ve never tried Manchego cheese. This recipe does look very good.

This whole recipe is all new to me! But I have to admit it sounds Delicious. It seems fairly easy to make I never heard of Manchego Cheese. But I love most cheeses so that should not be a problem. ! Thankyou for sharing this elegant recipe. 🙂

  7. I love dates and never though of roasting them. I’ve never had prosciutto and usually don’t use heavy cream in a recipe but it did give me an idea of how to use roasted dates in a lighter version of the recipe. This recipe does look elegant on a plate with not much work needed.

I havent tried this kind of cheese, but I am a big fan of dates. I love the sweetness of dates, and get them for ‘treats’ around here. I think this would be a bit ‘fancy’ for us, but it does sound good. This would be something I would love to try at someone else’s house ha!
