The Unofficial LEGO Technic Builder's GuideHow many of you are big LEGO fans? My husband is a huge fan and they were one of his favorite toys as a child. Now that he’s a grandfather and uncle to many children in our family, he’s playing with LEGO building blocks all over again!

For those of you who have older children in your home or for those of you who are adults and LOVE LEGO, I think you’ll appreciate this wonderful book. Let’s get started.

The Unofficial LEGO Technic Builder's Guide

Synopsis: This updated second edition of the best-selling Unofficial LEGO Technic Builder’s Guide is filled with tips for building strong yet elegant machines & mechanisms with the LEGO Technic system. World-renowned builder Pawet “Sariel”  Kmiet covers the foundations of LEGO Technic building, from the concepts that underline simple machines, like gears & linkages, to advanced mechanics, like differentials and steering systems. This edition adds 13 new building instructions and 4 completely new chapters on wheels, the RC system, planetary gearing & on 3D printing.

You’ll get hands-on introduction to fundamental mechanical concepts like torque, friction and traction, as well as basic engineering principles. You’ll learn to:

– Build sturdy connections that can withstand serious stress.
– Re-create specialized LEGO pieces, like casings & u-joints, and build custom, complex Schmidt & Oldham couplings.
– Create your own differentials, suspensions, transmissions & steering systems.
– Pick the right motor for the job & transform it to suit your needs.
– Combine studfull & studless building styles for a stunning look.
– Build remote-controlled vehicles, lighting systems, motorized compressors, and pneumatic engines.

The Unofficial LEGO Technic Builder's Guide

Our Thoughts: Hubby is a huge LEGO fan and has 3 or 4 large storage tubs full of LEGO building blocks and other LEGO accessories. Every time the kids are over to our home…the LEGO blocks are hauled out and they sit down to build something creative. I would estimate that he has over 7,000 LEGO blocks in his collection. Now that my nephews are all in their teens and our granddaughter is getting older, they have been wanting to sit down and build more “complex” and “creative” things.

The Unofficial LEGO Technic Builder’s Guide is the perfect instructional book to take your LEGO building to the next level. Everything in this book is well-written and laid out in a manner that any builder could understand. My 16 year old nephew has been coming over and the two of them have been studying the book and reading over it together.

According to hubby, this book teaches you how to use and construction motors, how to use wheels and have them really move, how you can build sturdy & big buildings and how all of these different parts need to be constructed together correctly to make everything work together smoothly. This is NOT a book for little kids…this is for OLDER teens and adults who want to take their LEGO building to the next & ultimate level.

We have a few other LEGO related books that teach you how to do simple & complex designs, but this book is entirely different…a lot different! This one teaches you all of the complex mechanics of it all and is a must-have (according to hubby) if you want to build complex & creative designs.
