Do It Yourself: Making Your Own Wedding Favors

Do It Yourself Making Your Own Wedding FavorsOne of the details of your wedding that can be difficult to organize is wedding favors. You’re going to want to choose something that thanks your guests for attending your special day but you’re not going to want to spend a fortune on something that they may just end up throwing away.

You may have already made savings for your wedding by choosing a dress from the listings on PreOwnedWeddingDresses.com, or you may be creating your own table decorations. So, why not keep the costs down with your wedding favors too by getting creative and making your own?

Foodie Favors

Favors that revolve around food are always going to go down well with guests and they don’t have to involve any baking or cooking on your part if you’re not a fan of the kitchen. Creating a cute tuck shop that’s full of sweets or a cart full of tasty goods will allow guests to pick and choose what they want and will also create a wonderful feature at your wedding reception.

Other ideas include making your own fortune cookies, granola mixes, jams or biscuits!

Drink-Me Favors

Another unique twist on wedding favors is to offer guests something that they can take home to drink. This doesn’t just have to be a bottle of something but could be bags of coffee or tea that have been placed in customized bags or have stickers that you have personalized. Placed in hessian bags and stamped with “brewed with love” is a really quirky touch.

You could also put together a cocktail mix so your guests can have a go at becoming mixologists. Wrap up little mini-bottles of liquor in a cocktail glass with a recipe to inspire your guests into making their own. Don’t forget to include virgin cocktails for the teetotalers too.

Blooming Favors

If you want to give your guests something that they can have in their home to remember your special day for many months to come, why not opt for a plant or flower as a favor. Small pots of herbs or succulents are perfect, especially when you team them with a heartfelt tag, thanking your guests for coming.

Or, you could provide packets of seeds so your guests can “watch love grow” – give them a choice of seeds, e.g. herbs or vegetables or tell them to plant them without knowing what they are so the flowers that grow are a surprise!

Home is Where the Heart is Favors

Other gifts that your guests can place around the home are a great idea if you want to provide them with a favor that will last. Think homemade bars of soap, carefully wrapped candles or a mix tape of all of your favorite songs.

Finally, if you want to give your guests a favor that they can use at the wedding, why not provide them with instant cameras to take pictures, individually wrapped sachets of confetti or scratch cards? The possibilities really are endless!
