Are Solar Trackers Important? Why Tracker Systems are Gaining Popularity

For the operations and functions of a solar tracker, it is important to understand how the sun moves as well as how this movement affects solar energy production. The rotation and motion are dependent on seasons, sequence of days and the varied temperatures of various geographic locations.

The radiation of the sun is influenced by such movements and will vary according to seasons and latitude. The position of the sun affects incidence angles directly and is influenced by altitude as well as azimuth angles.

How Solar Trackers Work

A solar tracker usually consists of a rigid part and mobile part with the aim of tracking the motion of the sun and adjusting PV modules vertically towards the sun. This makes it possible to increase solar radiation and the amount of energy that is supplied by the solar panels.

Solar trackers are identified according to their movements. Single axis trackers rotate on single axis with vertical, horizontal or oblique rotation. Two or dual axis trackers constitute the azimuth and move along with the elevated sun’s angle to create complete tracking. The increased production of electricity is attributed to these movements. The amount or percentage by which electricity production rises depends on the type of tracker.

Solar Radiation

The movement of tracking systems is responsible for increasing how much radiation the panel can receive, subsequently increasing energy production. Solar panels that have been fitted with trackers are able to receive a larger amount of solar radiation and produce more energy each day. This boosts the performance in comparison to fixed installations.

High Quality Power Output

Solar tracking not only increases energy production, but it also enhances the quality of power output. Tracking makes it possible to increase the duration of maximized power production, which further increases the capacity of production for several hours each day.

Solar trackers have been continually developed through technological innovations to guarantee high efficiency and reliability. Adaptable systems are used to serve specified needs, optimize installations and ensure that high levels of efficiency are achieved.

Choosing a Solar Tracker System

While trackers continue to be popular, some people are still skeptical about how they work and their benefits. These tracking solutions are tools that are used for hosting photovoltaic panels that have been mounted and utilize the sun for electricity production.

* A stationary mount keeps solar panels in fixed positions that compromise productivity when the sun’s movements are restricted to angles that are not optimal. Solar trackers address this challenge by automatically moving to track the way the sun progresses across the sky. This maximizes energy output by providing a well designed system.

* Various considerations need to be taken into account when investing in solar trackers. They produce much more electricity than stationary installations because they increase the amount of exposure to direct sunlight.

* There are different types of trackers including single and dual axis that enable you to find the ideal fit for your specified site or project. Factors, such as the size of installation, weather conditions, and latitude degree as well as energy requirements are used to determine the kind of tracker that will be most ideal.

  1. Very interesting article. Now I know more that I did before. Song lyrics that came to me: “I’ll follow the sun”.

I had no clue what a solar tracker was. In the town next to use they are putting up a new solar farm. Here in the Midwest we dont have tons of solar, we hav wind.. I have always been interested in alternate sources so this was informative.

  3. Solar panel sales are really big in my sunny state of California. I never used them on my house in Colorado where it’s sunny as well, but it’s good to understand how solar energy works. I do have an inflatable Solar Air Lantern that I won and it was fun to read about how to use that. Your article gets me interested in reading about solar energy again since there’s so much I don’t know.

I had no idea that solar panels could be fitted with solar trackers. This would enable solar panels to produce much more energy. That sounds great.

Wow! I never even heard of a solar tracker before! But after reading this over (several times!) it seems to make sense to me. Solar panels have to get the most out of the sun as they can to really be energy-efficient. Live and learn!
