Easy Weeknight Dinner: Chicken Sausage and Seasoned Rice Recipe

Seasoned Rice and Chicken Sausage RecipeFor the past few weeks I’ve been sharing with all of you some delicious recipes using the all natural al fresco products. I love these products for many reasons but the two biggest are: 1. all natural and contain less fat 2. they’re easy-to-prepare.

During the weeknights I’m too busy to spend 2-3 hours in my kitchen cooking a gourmet meal. I know many moms are in the same boat as me. Until I get done working and helping with the grandchildren, I just don’t have the free time like I used to. During the week, I need to get a hot dinner onto the table in less than 45 minutes flat!

For this recipe I utilized the delicious all natural al fresco Sweet Italian Style Chicken Sausage which is fully cooked. I had my package in the freezer and thawed it out in the refrigerator for a few hours. One of the reasons we’ve switched over to chicken sausage is that it contains 70% less fat than other sausages made from pork or beef.

I sauteed the all natural al fresco Sweet Italian Style Chicken Sausage in a skillet with about 1 tablespoon of olive oil until it was heated through and lightly brown. I turned the heat down to just keep it warm.

I used one of those pre-packed chicken flavored fried rice pouches that you can find at your local grocery store. Many different companies make them. I followed the directions on the packaged and prepared the rice.

Once the rice done, I turned the heat down to keep it warm. I sliced up the fully cooked Sweet Italian Style Chicken Sausage and stirred it into the seasoned rice. I turned the heat up to the low setting and simmered for about 4 minutes or until everything was nice and hot. Remove from heat and serve immediately.

We had this for dinner the other night along with garden salads and some dinner rolls. My family absolutely loved this and I loved that I had a hot meal on the table in less than 45 minutes for them to enjoy. It’s was a big hit and I’m going to be adding this easy-to-make recipe into my rotation.

I dont think we have ever tried he chicken sausage. It looks good to me, and although hubby is a big fan of regular sausage this just might fool him. I LOVE rice aand eat it every chance I get. I might give this recipe a try. Honesty I cant think of the last time I spent 2 or 3 hours making a meal unless you count checking the crockpot or a Holiday!

I love the Al Fresco chicken sausages and have eaten them in the past. For this recipe I would add sonme unseasoned rice to the package to lower the sodium count.

  3. Great quick-and-easy recipe! I love having things like this in my back pocket. I’ve gotten the al fresco chicken sausages before, but they’re made with pork casings and I don’t eat pork, so unfortunately, I won’t be eating them myself. My spouse loved them, though.

  4. I like that this chicken sausage is all-natural and contains less fat. It sounds much healthier than the sausage we usually eat, and the recipe looks delicious!

  5. I have never heard of this recipe before but it sounds really good and one the whole family would enjoy. I love nice and easy weeknight dinners so thanks for sharing this one. I went to their site and I would also love to try the al fresco Roasted Pepper & Asiago Chicken Sausage Frittata recipe.

I haven’t tried chicken sausage, but it sounds good. I love rice dishes, & often make them with regular smoked sausage, so I’d love to try this one out.

  7. This is a great meal. I need to check this out, as I’m too much of a DIY from scratch person, that I end up not having as many nice meals b/c it takes too much time.

This looks like a great continental breakfast. I thank you for sharing this fine recipe.

  9. I’m not much for rice but these look like they would be easy to use on the grill in kabobs. You could make veggie kabobs for the vegetarians and cut up some of these sausages for the meat lovers.

  10. I like chicken sausage and I like easy so this is right up my alley (or stove).

  11. This looks delicious, I’m looking forward to giving this a try. Thank you for sharing this recipe.
