Children’s Book: The Adventures of Camp Nana Papa

Camp Nana Papa Children's BookSix and a half years ago I was blessed with the birth of my first grandchild, a little girl that I call Princess Gia. Her little brother (Prince Jax) came into our lives back in September 2015, so now we’ve been blessed with two!

One of the things I enjoy doing with my grandchildren is holding regular movie, reading and play dates with them. We get together at lease once a week for some fun at Nanny and Pappy’s house!

Recently we received a brand new hardcover book for our library collection and I’m excited to tell you about it today. It’s a great book for Grandparents to share with their grandchildren.

Title: The Adventures of Camp Nana Papa
Author: Donnie Cranfill
Illustrator: Jeffrey Ebbeler
ISBN: 978-0-692-46917-0-51995

The company, inspired by founder Donnie Cranfill’s relationship with his own “Grandma,” offers products, gifts and a social media hub that honor and enhance this special relationship, helping families create and share Grand Memories that last a lifetime.

Cranfill is the author of “The Adventures of Camp Nana Papa,” a touching children’s book about two children, Nick and Sarah and their friend Flash the Firefly™ enjoying a fun-filled weekend with their grandparents at Camp Nana Papa! This hardback book is the first in a beautifully illustrated series, bringing Nick’s, Sarah’s, and Flash’s adventures to life, as they swim, run, play, go to the zoo, roast marshmallows and more! It includes six keepsake pages to personalize and preserve special memories for each grandchild.

Camp Nana Papa Children's Book

My Thoughts: This is the first book in our library that is geared towards the special relationship and bond that grandparents have with their grandchildren. The book is a hardcover edition that has a wonderful story line and beautiful illustrations. The author does a great job of bringing the characters (Nick, Sara and Flash) to life.

I sat down last week and read the book to my 6 1/2 year old grand daughter who absolutely loved it! She was really drawn to “Flash” the firefly who is Nick and Sarah’s best friend at Camp Nana Papa. I have to admit, Flash is absolutely adorable! One of our favorite pages in the book is a page where Nick, Sarah and Flash are on the beach building a sandcastle. Every summer we take the Princess down to our beach house for a week and build sandcastles with her, so this particular page had a lot of meaning for us.

At the back of the book are some special pages for you to personalize with your grandchild. There is a page where your child earns their camp badge and fills in their information. The next page is for your grandchild to fill in the names of what they call you. In my case, I’m Nanny and my husband is Pappy. The next page you have your grandchild trace around their hand to show what size their hand was the first time they read the book. Cute! Next is a page where the child writes down what things they like to do at their Camp Nana Papa. The following page is all about Flash and what things they would do if they had a friend like Flash. The book finishes up with the last page where the child writes down what kind of things they want to do at Camp Nana Papa the next time they visit.

Everything about this book is absolutely adorable! I love how your grandchild can personalize those last few pages and really make the book their own and the book turns into lasting keepsake for years to come! We love it!
