Visiting the USS Arizona Memorial

USS Arizona MemorialHow many of you have ever visited Hawaii? My husband and I have been fortunate to have visited that beautiful state twice and are currently planning our third trip for next year.

If you ever get the chance to visit we highly recommend that you stop by Pearl Harbor and check out the USS Arizona Memorial. This place is an incredibly humbling experience.

The memorial was set up to honor the men and service women who lost their lives on December 7th, 1941…when our country was brutally attacked.

As you stand in front of the memorial wall that lists all of their names it brings tears to your eyes to see how many lives were lost. It’s an experience that has forever changed our lives and one that we will never forget.

There are tons of web sites online that you can check out to learn more about the USS Arizona Memorial but today I wanted to feature this one photo that we took as our “Almost” Wordless Wednesday post for this week. Enjoy!

I have never visited Hawaii, and now that the anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack is near I am glad to see this post on the Memorial. it looks like visiting there would be an unsettling experience, just like the Worl Trade towers site in NY

  2. I have not visited here but I have heard from friends of the impact that it made on them when they saw the memorial. Such an important historical site that I hope to see.

  3. I love watching and reading all history on WW II. I’ll have to look online since I won’t be visiting Hawaii anytime soon, but this is one topic worth revisiting, remembering, and giving thanks for those who served.

I’m a history nut, so if I ever get to Hawaii I will definitely want to see the U.S.S. Arizona & Pearl Harbor. I probably would be more likely to go there than to any beach.

  5. I would love to visit this one day! We honeymooned in Maui and this was one thing that I wished we had done, visited Oahu and Pearl Harbor. We do plan on revisiting Hawaii at some point with our boys and this is a definite on our itinerary!
