Neely’s Barbecue Sauce Recipe

I am not a huge fan of sauces for the most part, but there are some that I do enjoy. I have been trying to make more foods at home to get rid of as many preservatives as possible so when I needed a BBQ sauce for my game day party the other day, I went hunting for an easy to prepare sauce that I could use for any purpose. What I found was this BBQ Sauce recipe by the Neely’s from The Food Network. What I liked about this recipe is that there is no weird ingredients in it. I already had everything at home!

Tasty Barbecue Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

2 cups ketchup
1 cup water
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
5 tablespoons light brown sugar
5 tablespoons sugar
1/2 tablespoon fresh ground black pepper
1/2 tablespoon onion powder
1/2 tablespoon ground mustard
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Directions: In a medium sauce pan, whisk together all ingredients. Bring to a boil and then allow to simmer for an hour and 15 minutes. Refrigerate before use. Use for a dipping sauce or on your favorite meats. Makes about 3 cups. Good for 7 days in the fridge in a sealed jar.

This came together so easy! The flavor was right on. A little bit of vinegar. A bit of sweetness and all around a tasty sauce! Give it a try!

Lemon juice and ground mustard…that’s different for me. Sounds like great additions. My son and I were recently talking about barbecue sauce recipes. I will have to pass this on. Do you think it would work simmering in the crock pot?
