St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated on March 17th every year. Millions of people all around the world celebrate St. Patty’s Day whether they are Irish or not and for many…it’s just a good excuse to get together with friends & family and to have some fun.

This year hubby and I will be attending a traditional St. Patty’s Day party at a local Irish Pub. It’s a party for 75 people who will be required to dress up in some type of costume or at the very least be wearing some green! I can’t wait to see everyone in their party fashions!

They will be serving some corned beef and cabbage, hash, pulled pork roast and sauerkraut, Irish soda bread, shepherd’s pie, rum raisin rice pudding, Irish stew and all kinds of other great tasting foods. On top of all of the food, they will be serving some traditional Irish beers and several different green theme’d cocktail drinks.

How do you like to celebrate St Patricks day? Do you typically go out to a party or do you just enjoy an Irish theme’d dinner at home? Do you have anything special to wear for the holiday? What are your plans this year?

  1. My mother was of Irish descent, and she loved everything about Ireland. She was lucky enough to be able to get there while she was still mobile, and it was one of the highlights of her life. St. Patrick’s Day was always a big event for her, and although it doesn’t mean much to me, I will probably wear some green in Mom’s honor. I’ll probably make a corned beef dinner at some point, too, while it’s one sale.

  2. I usually wear green since it’s my favorite color and I have a shamrock necklace that I wear when I remember. I never knew I had Irish in my background until my grandparents (years ago, when they were still living) had their family crest researched (way before the online search was popular) and they proudly hung the crest on their wall with the background info listed–really interesting!

My daughter really likes St. Patrick’s Day. We celebrate at home but definitely St. Patrick’s theme. From treats to drinks, she prepares and sometimes will even do an Irish toast. She wears green for a week in countdown, and we will watch Leprechaun. Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all!

  4. We usually make corned beef and cabbage and invite some friends over. Although we have a wonderful Irish Pub nearby that serves delicious food. It just always gets so crowed on St Patrick’s day.

I like to make an Irish dish and sweet for dinner at home. We do not usually go out to celebrate ST Patrick’s DAy.
