Moisturizing Hand Soaps with Proper Hand Washing Tips

Softsoap Moisturizing Liquid Hand SoapFor 7 years I worked in the healthcare field and learned about the importance of frequent & thorough hand washing. If you are not a frequent hand washer, you should be! It is one of the most effective ways to combat the spread of germs.

With that said, many people don’t wash their hands frequently or wash them correctly. Here are some important tips for you.

1. Start out by rinsing your hands under warm running water.
2. Squirt a little soap onto your hands and rub them together. Work up a good lather and get in between your fingers, under your nails and up past your wrists. Do this for 20-30 seconds.
3. Rinse thoroughly and towel dry.
4. Teach kids to be frequent hand washers from a very early age and instill that habit in them through adulthood.

Note: You should be washing your hands before preparing meals, before sitting down to eat, after handling money, after touching pets, after using the restroom and any time that you come into your home from outdoors.

On a daily basis I would estimate that I wash my hands at least a dozen times, if not more. All of the frequent hand washing prevents the spread of germs but…can really leave your hands feeling dry and itchy.

softsoap kitchen hand soap

Recently I got to experience the new line of fragrant foaming hand soaps from SoftSoap. You can find them in the Jasmine & White Cotton, Whipped Cocoa Butter and Kitchen Citrus Bliss scents. The bottles are pretty so you don’t mind letting them sit out for everyone to see.

These soaps are very gentle on your skin and do a great job with cleansing. They don’t strip your skin of valuable moisture and leave your hands feeling silky smooth and clean! As an added bonus, you get to enjoy a real fragrance treat every time you wash your hands!!!

I watched the ten men who used the restroom to see how many washed their hands. Out of ten only one did. I have worked in food service and I have seen some workers who didn’t wash their hands. When I was in the hospital there were signs up saying if the doctor didn’t wash his hands to remind him and he wouldn’t object.

  13. Kat Emerick says

I use to work in a hospital and this was the proper way…Using warm or lukewarm running water
lather your hands with soap. Cold water is not as effective and hot water should be avoided because it is drying to the skin. The soap does not need to be antibacterial to be effective.
    .Step Two
.Rub your hands together to make a lather. If you have dirt under your nails, use this opportunity to clean under them. Rub your palms together and intertwine your fingers to make sure you get between them. Don’t forget the back of your hands!
    .Step Three
.Keep rubbing your hands together! For a proper hand washing this step should take no less than 20 seconds. Not sure when you’re done? Try singing your ABC’s twice, and you should be fine.
    .Step Four
.Rinse your hands well. Ideally, start by rinsing your wrists and letting the water run down.
