Tips for Making Kid’s Boots Last Longer

boots muck boot companyKids grow so fast that buying them boots that fit can often seem like something of an exercise in futility. Especially, if this applies to seasonal shoes like winter boots that won’t be worn very often during the off-seasons.

I learned this when buying my kid a quality pair of boots from The Muck Boot Company. Don’t get me wrong, I love their boots, so if you want to find quality shoes for your loved one, I’ve got some tips on how to be a smart consumer!

Use Insoles!

Padded insoles can make boots grow with your child. Buy a pair of boots that are slightly too large, and then use insoles to pad them so they fit your child. Some kid’s boots even come with insoles that you can change out during the life of the boot.

Get Boots that Stretch!

Buy boots in nylon or other flexible materials. These fabrics stretch to accommodate the foot so shoes will stay comfortable for longer. Between flexible materials and insoles, shoes may be able to grow as much as a full size.

Buy Quality!

Look for high-quality footwear with impeccable workmanship. The better the quality, the longer they will last. Quality does pay!!!

What kind of tips can you share with us on how you get your kids shoes to last longer? We would love to hear about it, leave your comments below.

  2. I always used to buy a size bigger and use thicker or thinner socks besides insoles and ‘stretchier’ type boot materials. Kids feet grow so fast they really can get uncomfortable quickly.

I wish I had known some of these tricks when my children were young. It would have saved me on their boots..I can still suggest these to my Daughters for the youngsters in their lives.. The insole trick is really a good idea.. Thankyou for sharing!!

  4. Getting boots that stretch is also a good tip for those that suffer from swollen feet from time to time. I use the insole tip since I have one foot slightly larger than the other, about a half size!–it works!
