Synopsis: Pauline Parril is a survival expert.

For ex-army veteran Pauline Parril, life marches along in orderly formation now that she is happily married, raising three children, and ascending a promising career ladder. But the handles of her safe and comfortable world soon turn upside down when a termination letter lands on her lap and her once-loving husband Donald grows suspiciously distant. Complications further arise when Pauline returns to school and meets Michael Fortune—the handsome and exciting poetry professor who threatens to get out of hand.

Pauline once endured a long deployment to a war-torn country halfway around the world, but can she survive the front lines of her fraying household? Find out how she does it in The Perils of Pauline, an uproarious tale à la Bridget Jones of an intrepid every-woman stepping through the challenges of rebuilding her life while learning that there’s actually more to discover about herself than she ever dreamed possible.

My Thoughts: Pauline has it all and the crazy life on top of it too! We all know the feeling about running a wild household, juggling a career, family and life in general. And this author knows how to tell a story with humor! The Perils of Pauline is a humorous look at a women on the edge and the tough decisions that come our way.

Hey, sometimes we don’t want to read about life. We are living it but when we can look at it in a fun way, then that makes for a delightful afternoon. I picked up this book and was able to finish it in just a few hours. It is a easy flowing read and had me laughing out loud in many parts. I even read a section to my hubby when Pauline created her own mantra! I laughed on that one for a long time! Suffice it to say, that is all I am going to say.

Women’s fiction and chick lit lovers are going to enjoy this read. While many parts are not all lighthearted, you will find yourself relating to her crazy life in more ways than one. I loved the tough battlefield references… unique and funny! I was especially happy with the ending too. That is always nice!

I enjoyed this read greatly and it made for a lovely day spent with a new friend! Check it out!

  4. I like some chock lit and the book sounded good until the husband was distant and then the wife also ‘met’ someone. I mean I know it happens, and things arent rosey, but I just am not into reading about infedelity. I read suspense though and I do like the prepper part you mentioned.
I might try the book, and skip over the way silly parts.

My first thought when I saw the title was, ‘is it about that old silent film era series,’ lol! But I loved Bridget Jones’ Diary, so I think I woul love this book.

  7. I can relate to the ups and downs in life, especially the distant husband part. I wish I could find a way to make it funny, but you move on. I could use a good laugh or two, and must keep this book in mind.
