Keep Your Kids Healthy with these Germ Transmission Prevention Tips

Vilah Bloom toteI am a very hands-on grandmother and have my grand daughter here at our home several times a week. When she was a baby, I had her here a little more often that what I do now.

One of the things I learned when she was younger was a slew of tips on how to prevent germ transmission to help keep her healthy. Now that baby #2 will be arriving early next year…I am getting ready for grandchild #2.

Today, I want to share a few tips with all of you that apply to both babies and small children.

1. Avoid spreading harmful bacteria to babies by washing pacifiers in warm soapy water; never “clean” a pacifier or bottle nipple by placing it in your own mouth.

2. Invest in a new toothbrush at least every three months and after every illness to avoid lingering bacteria and germs.

3. Wash your hands after changing your baby’s diaper and before feeding or nursing your baby. When you suspect you are going to be in close contact (like feeding, diapering and snuggling) it is important to have your hands clean!

4. When diapering a child in public, use your own diaper changing pads that you carry with you! Those counter tops in restrooms are filthy dirty and should NEVER change your baby’s diaper directly on them.

5. To prevent the spread of germs at the grocery store, invest in a good shopping cart cover for your child. You want want that can be thrown into the washer/dryer after shopping trips to remove germs. Better yet, keep your child in their car seat/carrier when shopping instead of placing them directly into a shopping cart.

6. Teach your children at a young age to NOT pick things off the floor to put into their mouths. This includes: toys, dropped foods, pacifiers, teething rings, etc.

7. Carry hand sanitizer or soaps with you at all times. You need to wash your hands as well as your child’s hands often! Hand wipes are fabulous if you want a no-mess, no-fuss solution.

With grandchild #2 arriving early next year I received a wonderful Harbor Side Tote from Vilah Bloom to review for all of you. This tote bag is the perfect diaper bag for all new moms and grandmothers out there like me!

Harbor Side Tote Features:

4 large interior organizational pockets.
2 interior bottle pockets.
5 deep exterior pockets.
Can be used/carried 3 different ways.

Vilah Bloom bag

I just love all of the organizational features that this tote has! Tons of pockets for baby bottles, toys, diapers, teething rings, change of clothes and so forth. The front of the bag has a pocket w/a plastic diaper wipe container that comes with it and you fill it with your own wipes. Just flip up the little pocket cover and easily grab for the wipes when you need them.

The tote also comes with a diaper changing pad that is reusable…over & over again. You can clean this pad to keep it germ-free and tidy. It slips into a pocket on the back outside wall of the bag, so that it is always within easy reach. I love the size of this bag which will hold everything I need when I am going out with baby #2 once he/she arrives. In addition, I love the detachable shoulder strap which is long enough for me to use the tote as a cross-body bag. Yay! It is the perfect diaper bag tote which is pretty to look at and super functional too!
