Staples Teacher Appreciation Event

One of the things that I enjoy the most about my life is that I am able to teach others valuable skills that will carry them through their life and into their business career. I am able to do this through a teaching position I hold at my local community college. Business has always been a passion of mine and by teaching others business skills they can use immediately, I am hopefully able to make a difference in someone’s life.

Teaching supplies are never cheap and even as an adjunct instructor, I end up spending some of my own money on supplies for the classroom and for my own class preparation. I am thankful for programs that many businesses extend to the local teaching community that offer special savings to teachers. Today I want to share with you the program that Staples has for teachers. This event is coming up this week – Friday through Sunday and if you are a teacher in your community, you can save significantly on school supplies that you can use in your classroom.

Staples is helping teachers with a Teacher Appreciation Event all weekend long August 1st through August 3rd at store locations nationwide. Most teachers spend more than $400 of their own money each year on supplies and materials for their classrooms. The Staples Teacher Appreciation Event will help teachers get the supplies their classrooms need such as pencils, glue sticks, tissues, art supplies, and more for less.

“We know how hard teachers work to educate our children, and we want to make great savings happen as they get their classrooms ready for the new school year,” said Alison Corcoran, senior vice president, stores and online marketing, Staples. “Dedicated educators, who spend their own money on supplies, can find everything that they need in one stop at Staples and make more happen for less.”

Sign Up For Rewards

Teachers enrolled in Staples Teacher Rewards program will receive a coupon for 25 percent off any purchase of $10 or more that can be redeemed during the Teacher Appreciation Event, August 1-3. During the event, teachers will also receive a free academic “Calendar of Savings” with teacher-specific offers each month so they can save all year long. Educators who are not currently Teacher Rewards members can sign up at any Staples store, August 1-3, and receive 25 percent back in rewards during this special Teacher Appreciation event. The special savings offer – exclusive to teachers – excludes technology. (Exclusions apply, see store for details).

To continue to help educators throughout the school year, the Staples Teachers Rewards program gives educators 5 percent back in Rewards on everything, including technology and services, plus an additional 5 percent back in Rewards on teaching and art supplies. In addition, teachers get free shipping on every Staples.com order with no minimum purchase required and no limit to the Rewards teachers can earn. Teacher Rewards members can also take advantage of opportunities to earn extra Rewards on certain products throughout the year. They can earn $2 back in Rewards for every ink or toner cartridge that they recycle when they’ve spent $30 on ink or toner over the previous 180 days. Staples Makes More Classroom Projects Happen

Staples is teaming up with global pop music superstar Katy Perry to “Make Roar Happen” and support teachers during the back-to-school season. Staples is building on its long history of supporting teachers, students, and education by donating $1 million to DonorsChoose.org, a charity that has helped fund more than 450,000 classroom projects for teachers and impacted more than 11 million students.

“Staples is proud to contribute to teachers’ efforts to ensure that their students succeed in the classroom,” said Alison Corcoran, senior vice president, stores and online marketing, Staples. “By supporting teachers, we are all working toward building stronger communities.”

About DonorsChoose.org

Founded in 2000, DonorsChoose.org makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. At this nonprofit website, teachers at half of all the public schools in America have created project requests, and more than a million people have donated $240 million to projects that inspire them. All told, 11.4 million students—most from low-income communities, and many in disaster-stricken areas—have received books, art supplies, field trips, technology, and other resources that they need to learn.

Spread the Word

Thanks to businesses like Staples, support for teachers has made an impact on the wallets of teachers. This helps us be able to buy a bit more supplies, which in turn will make an impact on someone’s life this semester. Spread the word to a teacher you know so that they can be a part of the Staples Teacher Appreciation Event this August.

  1. Great promotion that Staples is having. Thanks for sharing this info. I’ve already shared it to my Facebook and Twitter. I hope it helps some teachers out. They need, as we parents do every bit of savings.

Love this. It’s great when companies help out and work to give savings. They offer back to school deals for all and if you shop around you can get some great prices, but we don’t always have that luxury of waiting or shopping around. It’s great that Staples has also come up with a way to help all year long. Teachers shouldn’t be expected to pay for paper for the class, but parents can’t always afford school supplies either. It’s hard and costly so it’s nice to have some savings.
