REAL by Katy Evans Book Review

There comes a time when reading a book that you can really see the passion for the characters that the author has created. It is like you are in the room, watching them as they interact. You can see every move and feel the connection between the people and the anticipation that is created is felt by you as you read their stories. That is the feeling that I got when I was asked to read this book by the formerly independent author, Katy Evans

This book was originally written as an indie novel from Katy Evans and it became a self-published sensation, hitting the New York Times and USA Today bestseller lists upon initial publication! With her fabulous storytelling skills, this book, books that will be coming in this series and her future publication will now be part of the Gallery Books division. From reading this initial book, I can see why she was chosen to be represented with her writing.

In REAL, bad-boy underground fighter Remy “Riptide” Tate hires Brooke Dumas to be his beautiful young sports rehab specialist, sparking an attraction that both find impossible to resist. Remy is not the typical bad boy image that is seen in romance novels. Yes he is rich and powerful, but in a totally different way. He is handsome in a way that makes the ladies flock to the fights. When he sees Brooke, he has to find out who she is. She feels the pull as well and is excited when he hires her to be his personal sports rehab specialist. This creates a powerful story that will leave you breathless in many sections.

The Author is a very talented writer and for her first publication to have created the attraction and pull between two people such as she has. It is amazing. The storyline is well developed as well as the relationship. You get the typical scenario of two people – they fall in like, the attraction, they love, they fall apart and hopefully come back together. But the way the Katy crafts her stories, it is not trite. The story is believable and you find yourself rooting for them to make it work.

The female character Brooke, is very strong in her own right and I am glad that she was not created to be weak because she has a lot of issues on her plate to deal with. Her new man has plenty to deal with and he is strong and overbearing in many areas. The story line is interesting and keeps you moving quickly through the book. If you love to read about strong characters and romance with plenty of love scenes, then this book is a great choice for you. Personally, I am looking forward to the next one in line. Kudos to a fabulous new author.
