My husband and I are getting old…yes, I hate to admit that but it’s the truth! Just last month I turned 46 and he will be turning 52 this Fall. While we are getting older…we still are not ready to just plop our butts down in front of the TV and play Gin Rummy all day long.

We met each other back in the early 1980’s and became a couple in 1984. In 1985 we became parents and in 1986 we got married and have been happily married ever since. Don’t get me wrong…we have our disagreements from time to time…but I love that man with every fiber of my being.

For our entire lives we have been planning out what we want our Golden Years to be like and have made arrangements for the past 29 years to make sure we accomplish those goals. We have invested our money in real estate, money market accounts, saving accounts and a whole host of other investment opportunities.

We wanted to make sure that once we reach our Golden Years…we will have the money to do the things that we want to do. Today, I am sharing a list of things on our “Golden Years To-Do List” with all of you.

1. We want to retire and live down in North Wildwood, New Jersey and experience coastal beach life fulltime. This has been a dream of ours since we first got together and both of us are determined to see this goal through.

2. My husband has always wanted to take a Mediterrean Cruise and not just for 5 or 7 days…nope, his big dream is for a 21 day cruise! We have the money saved and will hopefully accomplish that goal when he turns 60…he wants it for his 60th birthday, not sure why…but that is what he wants to do when he hits the big 6-0.

3. We have one beautiful grandchild right now who is 4 years old…we are hoping that we will get more grandchildren & our goal is to continue to be a big part of our grand daughter’s life and a big part in all of our future grandchildren’s lives too. Family is everything to us.

With that said, we set up a savings account for our grand daughter the day she was born and have been consistently depositing money into it for when she is older. We are hoping she uses it towards college or whatever it is she wants to do once she matures & becomes a responsible adult.

We are modest people and we don’t want much…but what we do want for our Golden Years is important to us.

Now…I would like to share a very adorable YouTube video with all of you featuring Morty and Lee…this couple will pull on your heartstrings, bring a smile to your face and will show you what REAL committed love is all about. I just LOVE watching that Swiffer commercial and could watch it another hundred times!

Do you have any Golden Years Goals? If so, I would love to hear all about them, so please feel free to leave your comments below. Thanks!

I think it is wonderful how your husband and you have planned everything out and I am sure that you will accomplish your goals. Our goals have not quite gone as we hoped – partially due to illness.
I still hope that we will be able to travel – to Canada, Europe ,the Caribbean. I have never visited the lighthouses in NJ and that is something we can do soon.

Congratulations on the life you’ve had and your future dreams! My husband and I are getting older, too, and trying to make some plans as well. We’ve fought and loved hard. We want to spend our years with each other and our family. I want to travel some. There are many places but in the US and internationally I want to see….Niagara Falls, Hawaii, east coast lighthouses, Australia. Happy traveling to us all!

    • Sherry…3 of my favorite east coast lighthouses are: Hereford Inlet Lighthouse in North Wildwood NJ, Cape May Lighthouse in Cape May, NJ and the Cape Hattaras Lighthouse in NC….those are my top 3

Thank you. I will look into those. I don’t know much about the east coast lighthouses but love going to the ones in Florida. I really appreciate the picks.

  3. My husband and I would like to move to an old farmhouse in the country – but not too far from the grocery 🙂

    • Sarah…my hubby grew up on a farm in the country when he was a kid. While I like country life, I am too much of a city slicker now to ever go back!

  4. I want to travel to New Zealand. I’ve been saving for the trip for quite a while. I own my home outright so I’ve been putting some of what used to go the the mortgage into that account.

    • I’ve never been to New Zealand but heard it’s beautiful. I love warm, sunny & tropical destinations and would love to visit Belize.
