Easy Homemade Pie Crust Recipe
I love to bake homemade pies and probably bake at least one homemade pie every 7 to 10 days for my family. We love to eat pie for our desserts or as a snack. I guess you could say that we are PIE LOVERS!
A few years ago I got this easy homemade pie crust recipe from my mother and most of the time when I am making a homemade pie, I use this recipe. It makes 6 pie crusts so ONLY use this recipe if you are going to be baking a lot of pies!
Homemade Pie Crust Recipe
4 to 5 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup vegetable shortening
2 teaspoons salt
1 large egg
2 tablespoons white vinegar
water
In a large bowl, cream together the all-purpose flour, shortening and salt. Beat the large egg in a glass measuring cup using a wire egg beater. Add in the vinegar and enough water to make 1 full cup of liquid. Pour liquid mixture into the flour and shortening mixture. Blended until well combined.
You can now roll out your pie doughs onto a lightly floured surface. This recipe makes about 6 pie crusts so I store the dough in my refrigerator over a 2 day period of time until I get my pies all baked. You might have to play around with the flour amount until you get it just right.

I’m shocked at how little shortening there is in this recipe. I love making pies – this recipe is a must do!!!
I too am a pie maker and make my own crusts. My crust is usually a butter crust especially when I make a fruit pie.
My daughter sometimes makes her own crust. A healthy twist she uses is ground up Fiber One cereal. If you like a graham cracker crust you can crush deluxe graham cookies for an added chocolate effect. Just a couple of thoughts.
I’m not that excited about homemade pie. I mean I’ll have a piece as long as there is plenty of whipped cream/topping. I do love to make chocolate cream or chocolate pudding pie.
I like this one. I always tend to have difficult times with pie crust. Thanks for sharing!
The closest I come to baking a pie is cooking a frozen one.
thanks..always looking for easy!
