Compass B570 Pathway Booster Car Seat by The First Years

As you all know, I am a very proud grandmother to an adorable 3 year old little girl who spends quite a bit of time with us. We enjoy having her around and take her with us as often as we can. Since she spends so much time with us, it is imperative that we have a high-quality safety seat (car seat) in our car at all times. She is growing up so fast and is now ready for a step up in the car seat department and is ready for a booster seat!

The great folks over at The First Years sent us their new Compass B570 Pathway Booster Seat to evaluate for all of you. This booster seat is made for children who weigh 30 lbs. to 100 lbs and for children ages 3 and older. Little G weighs 31 lbs. and is over 3 years of age.

Compass B570 Pathway Booster Car Seat by The First YearsThe First Years Compass B570 Pathway Booster Seat has been awarded the highest ease of use rating- five stars- from the National Highway Transportation Administration (NHTSA) and a “Best Bet” rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The First Years Pathway Booster Seat features color-coded belt paths, adjustable shoulder belt paths and optimized lap belt paths for a comfortable and secure fit each and every time. The seat is lightweight, making it easy to move when traveling as it only weighs 9 lbs.

Additional Product Details (from the company):  Never worry that the seat belt is not positioned correctly when you buckle your little one in for the ride? With the new Pathway Booster Seat, those worries should disappear. This new booster from The First Years allows you the flexibility to adjust the shoulder belt path up to 1.5″ so your child will be comfortable and secure each and every time. And the lap belt positioning has been adjusted for a more comfortable and better fit.Compass B570 Pathway Booster Car Seat by The First Years

The self-adjusting back means you should have no issues with installation in any back seat. When the seat is not in use, the lower anchor attachments keep it secure–an added safety benefit for all of your passengers. No more worries about forgetting to secure the seat with your vehicle’s seat belt.

The Pathway headrest has been developed to control your child’s head in the event of a crash. The deep headrest and contoured shape will help contain and control your child’s head on impact. Side-impact testing is standard for all of The First Years’ seats; we side-impact test to Australian standards–the most stringent standards for side-impact testing.

Compass B570 Pathway Booster Car Seat by The First YearsAs with all of the booster seats from The First Years, this has our patented one-hand fold, making storage and moving from car to car easy and stress-free. Also no more dirty cup holders! Our two cup holders are removable and dishwasher-safe and are properly-oriented to really hold the cups in place when the seat is installed correctly.

Here is why we love this booster seat: The seat was really easy to install and basically comes ready to go, right out of the box. The seat completely folds down when not in use and for easy storage. This is a fabulous feature since most of the time Little G is not with us and we can fold the seat down to make more room in the car. There are 2 cup holders which swing out for easy-use and they twist out when you want to take them into the house for washing. Little G always has something to drink with her and these cup holders are fantastic! I don’t have to worry about her falling asleep and her cup rolling around on our back seat.

Compass B570 Pathway Booster Car Seat by The First YearsThere is a removable seat pad, back pad and headrest pad which snap on and off quickly & easily. You can snap them off and hand wash them in cool water and air dry. This is a great way to keep your booster seat clean and germ-free. You can wipe down the rest of the booster seat with a damp cleaning cloth or use one of those handy cleaning wipes like I do. Quick and easy way to de-germ the car seat/booster seat!

As soon as it arrived, Little G wanted to sit in it and watch TV so we left her. We felt this was a great way for her to get “comfortable” with her new booster seat. As you can see from the photo, she loved sitting in it and watching TV. hahaha! The following day my husband installed it into the back seat of our car which took a minute or two. He then placed Little G into the booster seat and followed the color coded belt paths to get her buckled up. Wow, no more guessing with that since everything is color coded, you know that you have done it correctly. Getting your preschooler in and out of this car seat/booster seat is really easy and I appreciate that!

As you can see from my photos, Little G loves this booster seat! She is really comfortable in it and she loves those cup holders! She puts her snacks in a cup and puts those in one cup holder and the other cup holder holds her beverage. She really thinks she is “cool” with these new features just for her!

One final word…I really wish they would of made high-quality car seats like this when our daughter was little. Wow, it is amazing how far technology has come in the past 27 years. Hooray for that!
