Velvet Sky – Original Lullabies Music CD by Valarie Pettiford

Today we have a real treat for all of the parents and grandparents who read our Two Classy Chics blog! With great pleasure I get to introduce you to a multi-talented star of stage and screen, her name is Valarie Pettiford. She is a Tony Award-Nominated singer/actress/dancer who is releasing her second solo album called Velvet Sky on September 18th, 2012.

Valarie Pettiford’s Velvet Sky is a collection of original lullabies written especially for her by Ron Abel, Chuck Steffan, Jamie Wooten and Michael Orland, all are successful in the music industry.

The lullabies range from songs that inspire game-play between parents (“Mama Say, Baby Do”) and their babies to songs that are simply to lull babies (of all ages) to sleep (“Asleep in My Arms”). The music album is executive produced by Pettiford and Tony Rader.

The 13 lullaby music tracks on the Velvet Sky CD are:

* Starring You
* Stars
* Mama Say, Baby Do
* Dreamland
* Velvet Sky
* A Choo- Choo- Choo Train
* Sleep (A New Mother’s Prayer)
* Baby’s Alphabet
* Angels
* Off on a Dream
* I’ve Been Waiting for You all My Life
* Asleep in My Arms
* My Miracle

Our Review: As you all know, I have a 3 year old granddaughter who spends an awful lot of time with us. There are times when I have a hard issue getting her to settle down to take her naps or to go to bed at night. When you think of lullabies, you think of babies but lullabies can be a helpful tool in getting toddlers to settle down for a restful sleep too!

Since receiving Velvet Sky, I have been playing it for 20 to 30 minutes before bedtime for Little G and she loves listening to it. It’s soothing and relaxing music that even us adults can enjoy too. Some of the songs are more upbeat and others are slow and soothing, either way, children will love this CD.

Little G usually falls asleep a few songs into the CD so I have taken the time to listen to the entire CD from start to finish and I can attest that it is a great CD. I really enjoy the “Off on a Dream” and the “Asleep in My Arms” tracks but Little G seems to like “Starring You” and “A Choo-Choo-Choo Train”.

I think this lullaby CD would make a great gift for any new parent, grandparent, daycare provider or preschool teacher gift! It’s a wonderful CD and we are really enjoying it!

    What a great idea Valarie Pettiford had to have new lullabies written for her. They sound delightful. I shall have to tell my friends.
