Tropical Traditions Virgin Coconut Oil

Tropical Traditions Virgin Coconut OilHave you ever used virgin coconut oil? I have heard of it before but have never used it. I got a jar of Tropical Traditions Gold Label to review. Wow, I never would have guessed it had so many varied uses. You can fry with, bake with it, do a hot oil hair treatment and some other health uses. You can learn more about it here What is Virgin Coconut Oil?

I wanted to try several different things with this jar of Tropical Traditions Gold Label Coconut Oil I loved the smell of it as I used it for a wonderful chicken stir fry. I thought it would add a coconut flavor to my sweet and sour chicken. You can barely taste if at all. the chicken was still so moist when I added it to my vegetables. Everyone was raving about how good it was. Imagine their surprise when I told then I had used virgin coconut oil to fry the chicken. There was not even a bite left! I served it with some fried rice and it was a feast. As a side note this oil can be used at a high heat without burning.

The next thing I used it for was a hot oil treatment for my hair. I used a hot oil treatment like my mother taught me as a young girl. I heated the a small amount of the oil and combed it through my hair, then I used a hot moist towel wrapped around my head (covered by another dry towel) and sat and drank a great cup of coffee for 15 minutes. I then shampooed as usual. It felt so soft and silky. I’m thrilled. Another way to do a hot oil treatment is to take a quarter size amount of the oil and comb it through your hair, cover it with a shower cap for and hour and then just rinse it out.

I love banana nut bread and had some over ripe bananas to make a few loaves. I used half butter and half coconut oil in the bread. it was the moistest bread I have ever made. My children said it was the best I have ever made and not to forget how I made it. I didn’t tell them about the coconut oil. It will be my secret.

This brand of virgin coconut oil is made in the Philippines in a very old traditional way by small scale family businesses. They make it in small batches at one time. This oil is very high in antioxidants. It is certified organic by the USDA and the Certified Organic Certifiers.

Who knew there were so many uses for coconut oil. I just can’t wait to explore other ways to use it. You can see more uses in the Tropical Traditions YouTube Channel – How to Use Coconut oil: There are hundreds of uses for coconut oil!
