Eden Foods Dried Fruit Snacks

Today I would like to introduce you to the food company called Eden Foods who sells a wide variety of natural and organic foods. This wonderful company got it’s start back in the late 1960’s in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I think it is very important to purchase and serve organic foods or natural foods, as much as possible.

When you shop at Eden Foods you can find delicious tasting items like dried fruit snacks, fruit and juices, canned and dried beans, condiments and sweeteners, oils and vinegars, pasta, rice and beans, sea vegetables, snack foods, spices and herbs, supplements and concentrates, teas, tomatoes and so much more!

My Review: The generous folks over at Eden Foods sent me 2 bags of their dried fruits to review for all of you. Here in our home we love all kinds of fruits so we were super excited to try these 2 bags out for you.

First up is the Eden Organic Dried Blueberries which are wild and hand harvested blueberries, that are organically grown. These blueberries are sweetened with organic apple juice concentrate and are very low in sodium. They come packaged in a 4 oz. resealable bag which makes them nice and convenient for snacking purposes.

The wild blueberries are organically grown in North America, hand harvested and infused with organic apple juice concentrate to sweeten them up. They are then slowly dried and lightly misted with organic sunflower oil to prevent clumping. No refined sugar or sulfites are added. Wild, low bush blueberries are rated highest in antioxidant activity. They are a tiny berry with big health benefits which makes them a healthy choice when it comes to snack foods or for when snacking on fruits. For those of you watching your weight, a 1/4 cup of dried organic blueberries is ONLY 150 calories with zero fat calories. I love that!

These organic dried blueberries are absolutely delicious! They are nice and plump blueberries that are lightly sweetened by the organic apple juice and have a nice burst of fruity blueberry flavor when you eat them. I love them and had to hide them from my family as these blueberries were all mine!

Next up is the Eden Selected Dried Cherries – Montmorency Tart and they are very low in sodium. The Montmorency Tart Cherries are infused with local organic apple juice concentrate which lightly sweetens them up. They are then slowly dried and misted with high oleic organic safflower oil to prevent clumping. They are known as the traditional “healing cherry”. They contain at least 17 antioxidants with no refined sugar, sulfites, or any other type of additive. They are a great snack to help promote a healthy heart and cardiovascular system.

My husband absolutely LOVES anything that has cherries in it so I knew this bag of dried cherries would be perfect for him. (plus, it kept him away from my dried blueberries). He has high blood pressure and some minor heart problems so I have always known that eating cherries was a good thing for him to do each and every day. For those of you watching your weight, 1/3 cup of these dried cherry snacks is only 140 calories with zero fat calories which is absolutely fantastic.

Here is what hubby said about the cherries: “I like the size of these cherry fruit snacks, they are what I would call smaller sized dried cherries and so can put several into my mouth at once and not feel like I have a mouthful. I thought they would be super tart tasting (hence their tart name) but I was pleasantly surprised that with the addition of the organic apple juice they are juicy and sweet. I like their texture too, not dry and leathery like most dried fruit snacks. I like them a lot”. (Thanks honey!).

Overall Impression: We loved the dried fruit snacks from Eden Foods! We give these fruit snacks 9 out of 10 stars on our rating scale. We only deducted 1 point as we would love to see bigger family-size bags of them in the future.
