I love spicy foods. I am not sure where I picked it up from as I am of German and Nordic decent and definitely ate those types of foods growing up. But as soon as I moved to California and I discovered Mexican food, I was hooked. Yum. I have passed that gene on to my son too. Good salsa can really make or break a meal for me.
I was super excited to bring to you an awesome company that has a huge range of BBQ sauces and salsa that you are going to enjoy immensely. I had the pleasure of taste testing several of the salsas and sauces over the past few weeks and I am actually going to break it down into two posts for you so you can enjoy it even more.
Original Juan makes many types of different specialty foods under 17 different labels. You can find items such as BBQ sauce, Relishes, Salsas, Appetizer Dips, Marinade and Dipping sauces and so much more! You can really get lost in their shop choosing all of the wonderful items they have to offer. Deciding on an item was a real chore for me! It was more like, what Don’t I want… LOL
I was sent some of their Dips and Salsas to try, the Batch 114 Jamaican Pineapple Salsa and the Batch 114 Jalapeno and Lime Black Bean Dip. I also sampled the Fiesta Juan’s Artichoke Spinach Party Dip Mix and the amazing Texas Longhorn Bread and Butter Jalapeno Party Dip Mix.
It is hard for me to know where to start, but being a salsa lover, I cracked that jar open first along with the Black Bean Dip. I was very happy with the flavor of the Jamaican Pineapple Salsa. I have never had a combination like this one before as a salsa and I enjoyed it very much. There is a small amount of heat but not much as this is a mild salsa. You get a refreshing taste of sweet pineapples and a bit of garlic. It was quite refreshing. I bet this would taste Awesome as a marinade on some pork or chicken or to finish it off as a topping on your meat. Delicious!
The Black bean dip was so good! I love the hint of lime that you get as a backdrop and it is nice and thick. You can use it as a dip like I did for chips or as a spread. It has great flavor and not hot at all. Just a bit of pepper flavor along with the beans and other veggies in there. Yum
Also sent to me was this amazing Relish called Texas Longhorn Bread and Butter Jalapeno Party Dip Mix. I am not a huge fan of relishes so I was skeptical, but I tried it on my burger the night it arrived and I have been enjoying it ever since. My friend absolutely loves it too, so we sit at the table adding it to whatever we can find and I have been eating from a spoon. LOL It is a bit hot, but not overly for a Jalapeno relish. Gosh, it is Awesome and has even beat out the salsa as my favorite item from Original Juan’s so far…. You can use it as a dip too. Delicious!
And last but not least, I also sampled the Fiesta Juan’s Artichoke Spinach Party Dip Mix. Hello! Can we say fabulous? I mixed it with some cream cheese and made a dip with it over the weekend to snack on during the game and everyone raved about it. It was pretty much devoured in just a few minutes. Wonderful flavors with a bit of tomato, some hot chilis, and garlic that is mellowed out by the cheese. Awesome flavor! Okay this is tied with the Jalapeno Party Dip Relish…
When you are planning your holiday get-togethers, you have to come by Original Juan’s and grab your appetizers and snack items. You just cannot miss it! This place is on my permanent shopping list!
